portimao is one of, if not, the greatest track built in the past 20 years.

Compared to the crap in the past 20 years (Losail, Valencia etc.), sure it's better. It has fast corners and lots of elevation changes, but it's not old-schooly enough (narrow and unforgiving) and the scenery is rather barren. The same reasons I don't like Istanbul Park. Anyway, Portimao >>>>>>> Paul Ricard we hopefully agree.

Seeing a lot of people 'hoping' that Kubica's test is an indication that he's set to replace Palmer at Renault after Silverstone.

Not sure I can see that happening because regardless of how good Robert was/is, Jumping into an F1 car mid-season after 6 years away, Especially with them been more physical & demanding this year is something I can't see been that beneficial to him or the team.

If he's going to make an F1 comeback he needs more track time (Maybe some FP1 running) & would benefit from a full pre-season test program & even then I can't see him been immediately at the level he was at in 2010. It's going to take time to build back to where he was, If he's even going to be able to get back there.

Kubica could come in with an injury and still be faster than Palmer

Eddie claims Mercedes will sell the team after 2018 and stay in F1 as engine supplier.

He says they have won everything and things only can get worse so he does have a point there. But only time will tell if he's right or not.

Ah, the good old Eddie Jordan Paradox - 100% of what he says is hot air, but somehow a non-0% amount of what he says is 100% correct.

I hope liberty will bann full on manufacturers and focus on independent teams if this happens. It's shit for F1 when teams come in big, win and when they don't win, they go. Going broke is something else, but just go because they don't win anymore. Childish.

This is not an original claim, neither did it originate from Eddie. In fact he's just reviving something that was suggested in 2016. It has legs though. Driver's are on short term contracts, even Rosberg's contract renewal signed in 2016 was for the 2017 and 2018 seasons only. Mercedes wouldn't be breaking the terms of their contract with F1 by stepping away from team ownership, because they would still participate as a power unit supplier. Toto Wolff would take complete control of the team.

Not Schrodingers cat but Jordan's rumor. As long as said date hasn't passed the rumor is both true and false.

I'm quite sure Mercedes would pull the plug, they spent too much for domination and they will not keep doing that just to see Ferrari winning

'member when Minardi was a thing, and allowed some superstar drivers like Alonso, Fisichella, Badoer, Montermini to start in F1?

Still can't forgive Alfa Romeo for what they did to formula 1. Biggest pussyfication in history.

Actually, now that you mention it - I made this prediction last year! Around the time they linked up with Formula E.

You can't trust an Eddie Prediction if I'm the source :whistling:

I'll never forgive BMW, I was a real fan of them, they looked soo beautiful in the pre-09 era.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what I saw of the pre-09 era was something that if I call it by what I want to call it, I'd be accused of being a "body shamer" by the PC brigade.

Sure, for me, 2009 had nice removal of all those aero gimmicks, but with that giant front nose was like:

Only a few cars looked like that, the BMW and Renault being the worst offenders. The Ferrari on the other hand was very nice.

Oh I still remember the first photos I saw of the BMW in winter testing at the end of 08'. My God what a shock to the system that was! It was even worse than the first images I saw of the "step" and then the "dick" noses. Oh my God that front wing on the BMW in winter testing was a horrid abomination. The rest of the car wasn't too bad, but good God the snow plough.
