Mike Manley (great name) replaces Sergio Marchionne, who is suffering from complications from surgery, as Fiat CEO.

Ferrari leadership likely to change too.

Edit: Louis Camilleri takes over Ferrari.

The statements put out by FCA and John Elkann sound like they expect that Marchionne will die.

Whatever the case, a shame for Ferrari and FCA as he seemed to be very enthusiastic about spreading the brands around a wide variety of motorsports.

It doesn't sound to good.

Quote:
"With reference to the health of Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. communicates with profound sorrow that during the course of this week unexpected complications arose while Mr. Marchionne was recovering from surgery and that these have worsened significantly in recent hours. As a consequence, Mr. Marchionne will be unable to return to work.

It looks like in the best case scenario he will have some kind of sequel.

Some Italian news sources (the legitimacy of which I know nothing about) are reporting that he has lung cancer and fell into a coma yesterday.

Haven't seen this covered elsewhere, but Alonso seems to have let slip some of his future plans when asked about his thoughs on the 2021 tyres:

Fernando Alonso wrote:
I don’t know and I don’t really care, I will not be here in 2021. I’m more concerned about the problem we saw when nobody was on the track because of the rain and 50,000 spectators looked at nothing.

End of Force India? Lets hope the entire tweet is true and not just the first part.

Apparently, who is coming to the rescue of Force India is Lawrence Stroll. So, the real team under threat would be Williams who could see the financial backing from the Canadian to end next month.

Earlier this month I already heard rumours that Stroll was going to Force India.

And none looking to replace them.

All the effort is kept to keeping Ferrari in F1...

Autobild reporting it as a done deal. MPH also added a smidge of intrigue on Friday by reporting that Stroll wants to take Kubica with him to FIF1.

Presumably the entering administration would be to render all contracts null and void (in particular the driver contracts) which would allow Stroll to drive immediately.

----------------------------

Williams will be fine. Most of the money Stroll was paying was paid in the first 2 years of the contract and if Stroll wants to drive for FIF1 ASAP then there will presumably have to be a further payment to facilitate that.

pretty much likely, as daddy Stroll doesn't want to see his beloved son dragging himself in a crappy car

I wonder if Force India will keep their sponsors

This is shaping up to be the juiciest silly season in years...

Raikkonen appears to be a lock at Ferrari for another year with Marchionne on sick leave?
Stroll to FI alongside Perez?
Will Alonso quit and McLaren dump Vandoorne and if so who would partner Sainz there?
Ocon to partner Hulkenburg at Renault?
Does Leclerc get promoted to Haas alongside Magnussen?
Who partners Ericsson at Sauber...Giovinazzi or perhaps Kubica?
Hartley seems to be on his way out so probably some RB junior will be plugged in there?
Leaving the Williams seat alongside Sirotkin for whoever brings a boatload of cash with them?

Yes! We might be on the brink of a massive change of drivers/teams that could be bigger than some inter-seasons combined.

Just read an article by a Brazilian journalist that raised very similar questions.

In regards to Hartley, he considered Norris could hear again about this seat. We also had Wehrlein speculated to this seat before, so one more name.

And for Williams, we could have George Russell next year if they become a satellite team for Mercedes.
