He was passed but the manoeuvre was not complete, proven by the fact he then ran into the side of the person he was attempting to pass.

lol now arguing about the technicalities of passing. tsk tsk tsk.

That's a different context, because the intentions are different. Vettel's aim was to pass Webber, i.e. get around and clearly ahead of him, whereas someone overtaking on the run to the line just wants to have his nose in front

I suppose a good way of putting it is by saying that being ahead and completing a pass are 2 different things

I agree with that.

Anyway, when you're side by side with another car, it's common sense to keep you're line until the move is completed (the car must be seen in one of the mirrors), no need to be a race driver to understand that.
What Vettel did could have ended a lot worse, especially at this speed.

Their wheels were still overlapping. It's not a pass. A pass has to be completed

Following that logic, Rubens Barrichello has not won the 2002 US Grand Prix. :flag:

No, there's a difference between being ahead and completing an overtaking manoeuvre or "pass". A pass is not completed in normal racing circumstances until the rear of one car is in front of the other car. You're talking about something that's completely different

And it doesn't even matter. The point is Vettel had not completed the pass on Webber. Mark could still have outbraked him and held the position. Vettel did not have track position. The onus is still on him to make the move stick, and he didn't make it stick - he took himself out of the race. So how can it be a completed pass if he drove into someone else and ended up out?

The knowledge that it's true worth is about 3 Zimbabwean dollars?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Surely that is justification alone for every F1 fan in the world to agree that it was Vettel's fault

I know that, I said that "people try to share guilt". ;)

Now learning the rally ropes with highly-rated promise, Raikkonen is still proving the wildest of wild cards for next season and beyond. As a contracted Red Bull driver in the WRC, speculation has been rampant that the "Ice Man" could make his triumphant return to the grand prix scene behind the wheel of a Red Bull F1 car.

Infamously resistant to interviews, the Finn refused to comment on his next career move, but the brakes seem to have been put on the rumors when Red Bull Racing chief Christian Horner nixed the idea. However, the team's influential "advisor" Helmut Marko – himself a former F1 driver and Le Mans winner – is reportedly in favor of replacing current championship leader Mark Webber – whose contract expires at the end of this season – with Raikkonen. Kimi's manager isn't ruling anything out, neither committing his client to another season in the WRC nor refuting the possibility of his return to F1.
