FIA seriously brushing it off as unfortunate timing and not a block... :slaphead:

For all their talk on safety are they really going to turn a blind eye to pretty much the most dangerous lineup on the grid? What has to happen, a driver getting hurt or worse?

Naah flying over him into the catch fence so the car gets ripped apart in 10000 pieces like Kubicas BMW.
And yeah getting hurt or death, like it happened to Jules. Not that im praying that something like that happens, but yes, when someone died in F1 there were big changes then in regulations, chassis, design safety etc... Senna, Bianchi.

But if all drivers know how Kmag drives, simply do the Vettel trick. The one he did on Bottas in Spain. The one behind who is about to overtake can change multiple lines. And lets see then If Kmag will block them all. As he is allowed to do one block.
But this his late block will result sooner or later in big crash from Kmag. But he never does that to a Ferrari, Mercedes,Red Bull when they are about to overtake him, to the rest of grid yes

I wish the FIA were as strict on Blocking on the race track as FOM are on youtube.

As much as Max probably did need penalising, it's just a bizarre message from the FIA that pushing a rival wide off track results in a penalty and two instances of actual, ridiculous car on car contact are let slide.

At this point it just looks like Max's reputation precedes him, probably because he's young.
Or the ferrari drivers, A team or B team, are exempt, whatever.

In order of penalties I'd say it was Magnussen------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------>Vettel-------------------->Verstappen but the FIA just love making an example of the youth...

Charlie Whitting on why KMag didn't get a penalty. Sadly this clearly shows just how pathetic the though process going through the FIA and Stewards minds are.

Quote:
"It was quite an interesting one actually. It was in two bits as you know, on the straight and then in the corner. He got the puncture in the first one.
"If you analyse it very, very carefully, what you see is two cars coming down with Kevin not moving, and then Charles catches, catches, catches, he decides to go to the right, and at exactly the same time, on the video, one frame, there's one frame difference, then Kevin moves.
"I think it's impossible to say that Kevin blocked him, it was just he made the decision that he was going to go right, fractionally after Charles had. You had to look at it quite a few times and analyse it in little detail to see that, but I think that it's just unfortunate, and that's what the stewards felt."

Whitting is useless, he should have been fired long time ago already.

Fractionally after is enough for a reactionary move in Indycar.

That's, to quote one RLM commentator telling off another RLM commentator, complete NONSENSE.

It's clear Magnussen knows the Sauber has a run, knows he is going to defend and knows his only chance will be to swerve at him to attempt to get him to lift off and lose his momentum

It might be 1 frame of difference, but it's a pre-meditated swerve and one of the most dangerous things you can do as the car ahead to try and defend your position as the car behind is already committed and you're making an accident inevitable.

But yeah, sure 1 frame of difference, whatever charlie. The drivers intentions have no bearing?
Maybe a post race chat with them would've been more illuminating?

So Whiting is basically saying he doesn't know what blocking is?  :slaphead: :slaphead:

Exactly this, and this is what I have been trying to say for a while now. Its actually the very small late unpredictable movements that are the most dangerous, rather than the telegraphed swipe or block. This is why I had a huge issue with Max when he was doing the slight movements under braking, such as Azerbijan this year.

That or they're just dumb. Like if I suddenly think oh that was stupid, obviously the better choice is to make that public so everyone knows they made the wrong decision. I mean clearly that does set different standards for the future now. Then again, given they couldn't implement it right in first place let's one assume that might happen again so
