Such things are never a surprise from the FIA any more. Yes Vettels changes were a joke but to even ban one offs is an even bigger joke. One offs for Monaco or a drivers home race or even last race were fine.

Wonder how anal they will be with it though. Stick a new logo on, that's a change.

Just be glad women drivers aren't a common thing in F1. The FIA would freak out if they get married over the summer break and take on their husband's name (or drop it in a divorce).

I thought that if they have a famous name, they wouldn't drop theirs in favour of the husband (Susie Stoddart changed to Wolff but she isn't that famous, and I like the Stoddart name more, because Minardi :p )

they should make the sport cheaper so new constructors could take a chance and put female drivers for marketing purposes and increased incomes

They should make it cheaper so constructors can actually exist.

is easier end the whole thing and start from scratch

I guess that would happen only if FIA cease to exist and Bernie dies

Just change who's in charge of the FIA.

And get rid of CVC too.

I don't think you quite know where the downforce is generated on the floor of an F1 car. The majority of it is actually generated pretty close to the center of the car.

Nowadays the entire car is shaped like an inverted wing, even without the front and rear wings, they'll still produce more down force than cars did back in the 70's with their periscope wings and huge goodyears lol.

Yeah, that's what the difusor is all about. Lol

And the reduce of downforce to increase overtaking should be read "...to reduce dirty air creation", and the increase of downforce to increase of overtaking may be read "... less clean air dependant downforce solution".

And yes, go backwards is a good thing. Beside that asshole of Ron Dennis said. Making the McLaren red and white would be awesome. This new paint is as boring as his face. Also the old aero package made overtaking more viable and the car harder to drive = good old days that can come back. All the while, still F1 could go ahead in the engine department. It's not like they need to improve more aerodinamic solutions for their road cars. They had a lot of research in this area of expertise already. But I'm sure that department will be busy still.

I also wouldnt mind they putting gravel back in the places that there's tarmac. That would be awesome and bring the fans back. Is also good to have a more unforgiving track. Another way to reward the best driver, add more suspense, and more epic turnarounds in the race outcome.

Not saying you're wrong but knowing Scotty's education / field of study, I'd trust his opinion on technical matters more than most.

Oh, that's his field of study? Then who made those drawnings?

Feck off Ferrari, f1 is an open wheel formula. Please don't waste our time by distracting the sport from fixing the problems that need sorting by dangling a futuristic carrot that has no chance of ever becoming a reality

They'd have been better off spending the money spent designing this on their marketing department to publicise how the engines we have now are much more efficient, economic, more exciting to watch and before too long will be faster than what we before.

But that wouldn't suit their private agenda, just be good for the sport overall. Can't have that.

I deeply love Ferrari, but we've lost the script so badly now, it's laughable. Maybe Seb can make chicken salad from that chickensh*t car, but we've lost our spirit. That car is a joke, like they cribbed a design from one of the kid's contests they held...sigh

A fan boy that wants to go to CART 90s style oval racing on road tracks. As much as I would love the intital LOZ factor of that, I would walk away from the sport if that were the actual rule book.

Feel free to google how the floor of an F1 car works. It's Bernoulli's law applied, and it's counter intuitive to what one might actually expect (and contrary to Scotty's statement). I've always been deeply fascinated by aerodynamics and read countless books on them, even met Geoff Willis (nowadays technology director at the Mercedes F1 team, back then he designed the BAR Honda F1 car, afterwards he moved on to be Red Bull's technology director) at a test in Monza and he took himself time to talk to me for more than one hour on the aerodynamics in F1.

Honda seems to have gained some reliability. Button currently fastest with 18 laps already.

And Lewis just had to stop the testing, because he is sick. He only completed 11 laps and will be replaced by Pascal Wehrlein, who was testing a Force India today.

They were on a run, but it's already over now (and perhaps tomorrow):

11:50 McLaren-Honda's day is over.

A faulty seal on the MGU-K has led to a terminal engine problem that, according to the team, requires a "full replacement of the power unit".

Button will not run again today and the team is unsure if it can stop the fault returning tomorrow, though says an updated part will be ready for Saturday.

A full story will be with you shortly. (Autosport)
