One race ban? What is this, 1994?

Wow, do I think Grosjean was at fault for the crash! Yes

Do I think a grid penalty would've been enough. Yes

Am I suddenly wondering why the FIA are being ten times harsher than any other similar incident? Yes

Is this style of question posting annoying? Oh yes.

Both Maldonado and Grosjean deserve a 1 race ban this season, I think it would do them a lot of good as long as they don't lose their ride because of it. As Phil1993 said they've both got the speed and talent in spades, but you can't allow that kind of clumsiness in the supposed premier racing series.

Wow. Nic sure has changed a lot since I last saw him.

Isn't that Lupe Fiasco?

Some people are critical about Nicole but everytime I see her I get the feeling she really cares about the racing. Of course I don't think this would be the case if she wasn't with Lewis, but I like to see that she's pretty emotional and enthusiastic sometimes, like in Brazil '08 as well.

Pastor needs to know that races are not won or getting points on the first lap. He could have waited until he get past Glock at Kemmel due to his car's speed.

Anyway, it was good to see some exposure from the Marussians when they were scrapping out around the track.

Boy, did it rain on Friday. I had even brought along a shower curtain to keep me dry. First the guys around me were laughing, but I was the last man standing and I didn't even get wet. The evening was nice too, with a music festival in Stavelot and a meeting with Mika Salo who was there as a spectator.

I also went to the Grand Prix in 2009. So for me it is the second time in a row that Hamilton and Grosjean crash out in the first lap. I've never seen them race.

nah, she doesn't. She just wants her man to be alright and do well, and she was understandably shocked at the sight of this pile-up.

seems like Alonso was not the only guy lucky to get out of this crash uninjured.

1 thing I've noticed while watching the sky post race stuff, is that when Schumacher was battling with Vettel, he quite clearly changed his line during braking, and it was really lucky we didn't see another accident like we did at the first corner. That was incredibly stupid.

I guess you are referring to the pit entry moment: I haven't seen Michael changing his line more than once. The battle was fair, even Mr Vettel enjoyed it.

It is no offence to you Scotty but why is it a common habit of this board to criticize so many race incidents afterwards as being stupid or dumb!? What I have seen - apart from the start crash - was an incredible tense race with an amazing amount of fantastic passes. Lot's of drivers were clearly on the edge yesterday but they all made it through without contact or crashing.
We are now discussing about "what could have happen" but it didn't, so I don't see any point why some of the race action should be considered as stupid.

I think the suspension for Grosjean is an appropriate punishment itself. But considering his previous incidents during this season and also the way FIA deals with Maldonado, I think the standards for punishment are very strange.

I'd like to understand why people believe Grosjean is at fault for all the other incidents he's been involved in this year. Does someone care to provide a list of his incidents including justification to why he's at fault?

Well, here's what I can recall:

Australia, accident caused by Maldonado.

Malaysia, clear mistake by Romain.

Monaco, not his fault (Alonso actually did what Romain did in Belgia).

Silverstone, a racing incident, maybe Romain being overly excited.

Hockenheim, didn't see Senna along side of him.

The main problem with these accidents is probably the fact that Groesjean doesn't seem to be seeing or think about other cars being that close around him. He's not doing these mistakes by intention, meaning he's "a good guy". Maldonado on the other hand is clearly playing the chicken with the other drivers. These two are battleing for the "Tool of the year" trophy with their avoidable collisions.

Thanks NVirkkula, I appreciate the details. And you've already done what I was intending to do with is show that actually Romain has been slightly unlucky with some of these incidents (wrong place wrong time) and not at fault as people seem to believe. Everyone is jumping on the "Grosjean has had multiple incidents on the opening laps of GPs this year" bandwagon, yet no-one is paying attention to what has happened, who is actually at fault, etc... I think it is unfair that Grosjean is being labled in this way, similar to Maldonado who actually deserves that label.

Remember that very recently the FIA clarified that if a car is alongside you, you may NOT move over on it anymore. Grosjean not only caused the accident, he broke a rule they recently clarified.

If you're referring to what he did yesterday then I'm not arguing that.
