This was the first race in a long while where it was brilliant and not because of tyres.

Although lord knows why everyone had brainfade seemingly.

You'd get races like that in the (horrible) refuelling era though, an early (but not first lap) Safety Car to throw people's plans out the window and another one later on to keep them bunched up so no one can get a huge advantage...

A bit like Silverstone 2003 tbh.

I think a lot of it was because this track consists almost entirely of horrible, fiddly, one-line corners. Save for the best drivers, trying to make a pass often ends in contact. It's like the F1 equivalent of Bristol - there's only one line, so drivers resort to knocking each other out the way.

I'm just saying that talking about his WRC career won't make his F1 achievements more impressive ! More like the other way around.

True.

It also adds to my belief that you need a Safety Car period early on at certain tracks. 2010 only seemingly sucked because the Renault was so fast in a straight line.

Also, regarding HRT. I like having 24 cars, but it really worries me that in the past three events they've had two brake failures and a steering failure. It's dangerous.

And someone with more technical knowledge than me - will this drive by Vettel make RBR rethink their strategy regarding set-up?

Teams used to have such reliability issues all the time. Only notice it now because of the lack of unreliability in F1 now.

That is, unless you're Lewis Hamilton...

Yes but I'm talking about dangerous reliability. It may sound silly but HRT are going around knowing they have brake problems.

Also, I saw on Atlas that if you tally up the points lost by Lewis this year by McLaren, he'd be about 10 shy of Vettel. Ifs and buts of course, but it does show how monumentally abysmal McLaren has been this season, and by account how average Button has been.

McLaren has also made a car that eats its tyres more then other cars.

Wonder if the FIA will say anything about Kimi and Sebastian's choice podium vocabulary.

Yes but tyres didn't cost Lewis victory either today or in Singapore, nor did tyres cause Lewis to finish 10th in Korea.

Nor did they cause him to start P24 in Barcelona.

Was there ever any explanation for the clunk that Lewis felt in Japan, after which his car suddenly got faster?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

In Monaco 2010 that happened but Petrov, Chandhok and Trulli all did 90% but didn't finish, so that's tenuous. They were *technically* lapped.

So it's Belgium 2009 - also won by Kimi!

Are you thinking with regards to the different level of downforce he was running in order to facilitate easier overtaking?

They both have to start the US grand prix from pit lane, just in case that track layout ends up being terrible too.

Ah, the only driver not to swear verbally makes sure he gestures his swearing to get in on the craze of the day :p

(But only for the English.....I think...)

Another point from today - the run-offs. How many incidents did we have because of drivers abusing them? And Rosberg's shunt too.
