Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button entirely deserves his new contract at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes' other driver Lewis Hamilton has been bested by the "number 2" Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes really do need to sort out Vodafone McLaren Mercedes "number 1" so Vodafone McLaren Mercedes can challenge for the title next season. 2008 seems like such a long time ago to both Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes bosses.

/don't look for meaning in this post, btw.

Why should they? So one season with a few difficulties and Lewis should be forced to play second fiddle to Button? Lewis isn't that far behind Jenson in the championship standings, so one retirement or mediocre result for Jenson and a return to form for Lewis and Hamilton could be back in front of Button. So by your logic that will mean Jenson should be number 2 to Lewis. That makes no sense.

It was a joke post aimed at the number of times that Jenson managed to say Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. The actual content is pish.

RBR's rivals getting desperate

Also, Lewis still in denial mode

Until he analyses his mistakes, he surely can't win the title again, else how does he learn?

He's not going to publically say in detail how bad he thinks his season has been, in a way its admitting his weaknesses and I very much doubt he would do that.

If you look at all the passes he pulled off this year, the amount of incidents and the "size" of them is blown out of proportion. Schumi killed pretty much at least one front wing per race in the first half of the season. When Lewis held back and was cautious in Monza he was harshly criticized and even in Singapur he started the race off very cautiously, lifting at the start and within the first lap. He touched Massa with the very edge of his front wing, shit happens. Look at the number of clean overtakes he made during the race and put it into perspective to the small touch. I hope he does not let the ridiculous critique get to him, even Alonso's on his side.

I advocate more racing, and sometimes cars can touch. If it's not a "Schumi" kind of touch, then let them race, and don't throw in stupid penalties. Just think of the brilliance of the duel between Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux in Dijon. Both of them would presumably excluded from the WC and stripped from their super license. But look at how awesome such battles are. If you end up punishing every touch, then you'll end up with a farce.

Mallya Selling Force India?

Quote:
Force India may be close to being sold, according to reports. The speculation comes after team owner Vijay Mallya recently decided to close his low-cost airline Kingfisher Red. Citing "sources," the Asian Age now reports that the Indian billionaire is now "planning to sell" his Silverstone based-Formula One team. Linked with buying the team is Indian business conglomerate Sahara India, which already owns a premier league cricket team and sponsors the Indian cricket and hockey national teams. "Sources say the deal is on the verge of being finalized and that an announcement to the effect is expected in a couple of days," the report said.

I'm just reading the story from Pirelli about the Q3 issue (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/95243). I can't understand their reaction. It seems they don't understand what happening in qualifying.

What I have said saturday:

The problem is that Renault, Force India or Sauber have to use 3 set of softs to get into Q3. Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari can only use one set of softs to reach Q3. That's a big difference, if you look at the tyre issues this year. The gap between the topteams and the subtop-teams are just getting bigger and bigger with these tyres.

You score points in the race, not in the qualifying. Toro Rosso is doing a good job this year. They are saving tyres in qualifying, and score a lot of points in the race. If you look to Alguersuari, he have failed to reach Q2 many times, but he had an advantage in the race.

If they bring back the qualifying rules (and ban the parc farme rules), the problem is solved, we should get a better qualifying, and you won't see (dis)advantage in the race of drivers who have used/not used the softer tyres. Without problems, Rosberg can maybe score a lot of points tomorrow. Not because he is doing a hell of a race, but he is just having a tyre advantage. Just like Webber in China.

Actually, it is a bit surprising, I would've expected the points to be earlier (detection before turn 1, activation on the exit).

Good to see that they are learning from tracks where the zone was too long.

I would've put a second zone starting just after turn 16, just to see if anyone had the cubes to use it.

Well I would have maybe tried it on the shorter straights (16-1), (3-4) because the straight is so long, you can use slipstream

I was actually expecting a double DRS with one on the straight afterwards.

I'd have put the detection zone just before Turn 3 & had the DRS zone going down to turn 4.

Thats a stupid DRS zone. Should be at the beginning of the straight.

I don't see the point in having the DRS for the shorter straights? It is an aero effect and thus only gives a clear advantage towards top speed. That works for the longer straights, not during acceleration, given the massive torque the engines actually have.

You can see this when they compare speeds in real-time, they are pretty much the same and only start having effect towards the 300kph mark when there's almost no acceleration anymore.
