I accepted the general direction of the sport regarding new venues a long time ago. Don't like it, but I accept it. I don't see the issue with preferring honesty over duplicity. It makes it much easier to make a personal judgement on whether the sport is worth my custom.

Honesty and duplicity matters not, it is the intent that should be the only thing up for discussion.

As a wrestling fan, I've seen this story play out once already. MBS wants western circuses to a) keep the population happy and b) to try and give himself and his father's government a veneer of respectibility and the impression that they are making progress, which ties back into a). Western circuses are lured in both with money and the idea that they are contributing to this liberalisation of the country (Vision 2030). They put on their show and then they realise that they've been had when they are left looking like advocates for the regime's worst excesses, but by that point the money alone might be too good to turn down.

Yup, this is a good point. Female wrestlers not being part of the event, the death of Jamal Khashoggi, but then again Vince McMahon is a Bernie type character so he wouldn't care as long as the money is being paid.

I would be interested to see, if this race is agreed, and Liberty win the concessions they have asked for regarding women staff, what their response would be if those concessions are rolled back when the race comes around.

This will be interesting yes. But I think we agree that we hope this GP doesn't happen.

one thing Bernie proved that worked out at F1 is crush all kinds of democracy, but it must be done in favour of the sport, and not in favour of Bernie's pocket or Liberty Media

In the same way the sport is broken as the only way to be competitive is to burn cash and not make the ends meet, I think the same applies to the event aspect. It's harder and harder to promote an F1 race and get some money from that and the easiest way to make a race viable is to have authoritarian leaders interested in showcasing their power by promoting a race that has no need to be profitable.

We all want to have races in places who truly love the sport but instead of... let's say Argentina, we'll have Vietnam and so on.

I'm totally up for races in untraditional countries if they meet up certain conditions

-to pay the fee of traditional venues at the scale 1:1 (one tilkedrome pays one classic track)
-they have one chance to make a good race at their Mickey Mouse tracks, if they fail gimmicks should be aplied (artificial rain, surprise reverse grid, DRS opened at all times even at the corners)
-they also pay the teams' traveling because if they want so bad to have F1 at their shitholes, better cover all expenses

Actually Kvyat is better off at STR these days. This is the Fisichella curse, looking like a world beater in B-team and then getting spanked by a superior teammate in a race-winning car. Being the top of the B-class material extends one's career and makes it relatively safe.

I need proofs that Albon won't struggle at RBR even more than Gasly or Kvyat before him.

One year ago Gasly was the next big hero. This year he struggles to adapt to the Red Bull, sorry boy not fast enough, bye and thanks for coming.

Makes me wonder if this was always part of Red Bull's plan all along with Gasly had a subpar year, to bring on Albon at mid season point and test both drivers out before committing to one for 2020.

Red Bull only have themselves to blame for their current situation which in all likelihood has the possibility to destroy two drivers careers in half a season. If they stumped up the cash and didn't alienate a driver then they would in all probability be second in the constructors championship and have two drivers competing for victory. They get what they deserve, much like McLaren trundling around with a still crap Renault engine instead of the ever improving Honda. F1 karma is a real bitch.

Red Bull doesn't care if they waste like 10 drivers to find the second one to partner Max. They were caught out by Vettel & Ricciardo leaving them at one stage or another which forced them to scrap for the next gen talent. And one has to say Sainz looks like the third best guy from that system even though he was never in the running for RBR. And who knows what would have happened if Vettel announced his departure before they announced they're getting rid of Vergne in first place. That's what got Kvyat his breakthrough in first place. If Gasly gets booted to Formula E anytime soon I wonder if Pato O'Ward somehow becomes a full-time STR driver (pending the superlicense points)?

Max himself was also promoted once. So were Vettel and Ricciardo. Reason enough for Red Bull to keep trying this tactic.

should had tried with Sainz, a very consistent driver that many thought made a poor choice to go to McLaren but it looks like he's doing fine there

3 years too late for that. Max and Carlos didn't get along so the chance of them both being at RBR was only ever slim. Once Max was promoted Carlos got fed up waiting for his chance so negotiated himself out of his Red Bull contract. Carlos did the right thing.
