The entire world was able to use the BBC Streaming Application to watch the F1 streams though. Now you can't. Countries such as Australia which relied on BBC commentary also won't be getting that now in half the races. So your world just got a little bit worse too.

Just out of curiosity, was this available when ITV was handling the live F1 coverage?

There are probably other "lesser" channels that can be used but nothing beats the BBC

The BBC F1 team should be massively proud of what they have done for F1 coverage over the last 2 years. It's been fantastic and this year especially so as DC has proved himself to be a pretty good commentator.

The BBC, however, should be ashamed of themselves.

The BBC Streaming App? No, it wasn't. ITV didn't stream anything online either, so no official stuff at the time. ITVs current system is a mess anyway.

I give it two years before everyone regrets it and wants to switch back.

The races on Sky will struggle to breach 500k viewers, the fairweathers (in particular, those who don't have Sky) will give up, and the figures for the BBC will suffer as a result.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I watch it on sky here, so I highly doubt having sky over there cover all the races will affect me too much...... and with regards to commentary, we'll just have to wait and see what commentators sky gets in (please be Ben Edwards), so I can't see how it's got worse

We can only hope they can poach some of the BBC talent, if they can just get a deal done so that EJ can be on both BBC and Sky all will be well! :p

Will have to resort to Racingforme, WarezBB and Demonoid depending on which one has it up first for my Formula One coverage. Joy. Sky can go fuck themselves.

You had BBC F1 coverage available to you online. Now you don't. That seems worse to me, even if it's an option you didn't chose to use.

I just refuse to subscribe to Sky on principle, even before this asinine decision.

The whole thing might be a ruse to justify Bernie shifting the focus of F1 away from Europe towards Asia...

Oh, and anyone who wants to know when was the last time Sky covered live open-wheeled racing (not IRL)?

A1-GP - look what happened to that...

There are applications which by-pass the BBCs location restrictions. Obviously I never tested them (wouldn't be able to tell if they were working. :p ) but I have an Aussie mate which used one and watched all the races live with us, on BBC.

10 races with extended highlights of the remaining 10, it is better than nothing at all but loosing it to Pay-TV is silly

damn such bad news regarding the BBC...

In Belgium races are now broadcasted by VT4, but the commentators are rubbish. They do their best, but commentating from a studio somewhere in Belgium is not that good.

Luckily we still have the Walloon channel (thank you Walloons) which usually have good commentating and also some information from the pitlane.

but nothing can match the BBC.

I watch the BBC coverage in FP's and pre and post race stuff, which are excellent. Now i'm gonna have to endure the undead commentator the whole weekend.

Ie, might do, might not, a long time away

So instead of joining when the new enginerule is introduced and kinda levels the playing field, they decide to wait 3 years and give the rest and advantage.

Unless they buyout the Pure project eventually....

2018...

it is 2011 for god's sake...

yeah and now read my comment again and this time actually read it properly and you'll notice I still made a small mistake but only by 1 year.....
