It was 2006, when Kimi lost second place to Schumi near the end of the race.

In 2008 the organizers did put that cement down (causing Brundle's famous "pikey" comment) but that stayed together through the race. It was just a little slippy compared to the tarmac.

It was also 2006 when the track started to break up & Jaques Villeneuve got offline lining upto lap Ralf, got onto the marbles/bits of broken up tarmac & was straght into the wall.

In 2005 & 2008 the track broke up over Friday/Saturday & was patched up by concrete for Sunday. Brundle got in trouble in 2008 when he called the workers who had done the concrete patching 'Pikies'.

Brundle didn't get into trouble, rather a couple of tabloid newspaper hacks suggested racism when he used the term "pikey"... ;)

The area JV went off is traditionally very dirty off line. I don't believe that part of the circuit was breaking up (as much as the hairpin) and the accident was more as a consequence of Ralf's bad driving than anything else.

Mercedes are either sandbagging or they can't get the softer tyre to work. Hopefully the latter...

Finnish commentators said that maybe he had drank something or he's getting old.
