The First two should be mandatory....

Bernie: Ferrari, you want extra cash for your historic value?
Ferrari: Hell yeah
Bernie: Black wings, gold wheels
Ferrari: uh what?
Bernie: Black wings, gold wheels
Ferrari: But our sponsors....
Bernie: Hey McLaren, Lotus, Red Bull, etc etc, want extra money
Ferrari: Now hold on, we'll send someone to buy the paint.....
Bernie: You better.....

Red Bull might be one of the few teams that will have the stepped nose as they have that vent in it.

I was about to say the same thing....

The 2002-2008 cars (with a few exceptions) will never look good to me with every spare surface being covered with as many winglets and aero flick ups as possible.

I think the 2001 car was the last good looking Ferrari before that era (even if it had a couple of flick ups even back then...)

Yeah but flying the mechanics down is a nothing cost compared to flying cars and equipment. :P Otherwise they'd test in Abu Dhabi every time. We're having a VERY mild winter this year (it's January and I'm out in just a T shirt in fucking Scotland), so they'd have gotten away with it this year. But normally it'd just be a huge waste of time, money and organisation.

Just because there is little to discuss about F1 this time of the year, a somewhat irrelevant comment but just to keep the thread going :p

It's mild winter but not everywhere in Europe. Russia is suffering with bad weather with lot's of snow fall and temps reaching -30ºC in Moscow and -60º in Siberia

I know they can't do it now, but back 15-20 years ago it was cheaper to go testing in Spain during the winter than it was Silverstone if you wanted the circuit to yourself, bit like our Government ministers Silverstone management lived in their own little bubble and the cost of hiring the circuit was the same regardless of whether it was July or December, while tracks in Europe used to have different rates depending on whether it was in-season or off-season.

So even though it cost more to travel out there, the cost of renting the track meant the overall cost of the test was far cheaper going to Spain than driving 15 miles up the M40 to Silverstone.

Yeah they tried that last time in 1993, just without the silver wings.

Well, he did pretty much drive for any other team in his career

He did drive for McLaren however and now I'm not sure if you didn't know or was being sarcastic :tumble:

Oh dear, yes. I failed a bit there. No sarcasm intended as I was referring to his time in the Malboro Alfa, while blissfully forgetting he did once drive for McLaren.

I thought it was some kind of joke, given that most of his time at Mclaren was spent at various trackside barriers, rather than driving. :p

Can some one come up with some answers for me here.

1. How Mark Webber hasn't punched Helmut Marko in the face by now is beyond me.

http://en.espnf1.com/redbull/motorsport ... 98448.html

2. How Mark Webber is still a Red Bull driver, despite one of the men perceived to be in charge slags him off and basically says how shit he is at any opportunity he gets.

http://en.espnf1.com/redbull/motorsport ... 98236.html

I can only see 2 reasons here. Either Mark has an incriminating photo of someone at Red Bull, or the only power Helmut Marko possesses is the ability to talk shit. Any other theories?

Because his best chance to win a title is at Red Bull. And he isn't stupid.

Marko isn't in charge. And Webber is still a Red Bull driver for the same reason Massa is still a Ferrari driver. Every so often he does enough to keep his job, and there aren't that many replacements that are ready for that season.

Also, whilst I don't like Marko, I don't see what he's said wrong here.

Quote:
"It seems to me that Webber has on average two races per year where he is unbeatable, but he can't maintain this form throughout the year," Marko said. "And as soon as his prospects start to look good in the world championship, he has a little trouble with the pressure that this creates.

That seems pretty accurate. On his day (and at certain tracks), Mark is a driver who looks legendary. But those days are too far between, and he doesn't cope well with the pressure of keeping at the front.

Yes I know those points Ellis, and they are very very valid points. However a senior team member saying that in a public forum is not the greatest thing. Saying these things repeatedly even less so. Behind closed doors, yes must definitely they need to be said. I get the feeling feelers are being put out for Mark to be replaced mid season. One of the senior management saying "You are the number two because you aren't World Championship material, so know your place"...does not bode well considering testing hasn't even started.
