Steward consistency is just absurd. Bottas did the same thing as Alonso and Ocon and didn't get penalty.

Hamilton is a great driver but Bottas is too far behind him. Would not be shocked to see them ditch him for Ocon after all

Yes. People saying there are different rules for Mercedes drivers this and previous years. You wonder why people are thinking this.

I usually hate this track, but nice to see it actually produced some good racing today

Bottas is perhaps the worst second driver of a world champion since Jos Verstappen, unbelievable

He's actually perfect for Lewis, just quick enough to help, but not quick enough to beat him.

Hardly.

Bottas was actually outperforming Lewis for part of the first half of the season, yet was unlucky not to win two or three races. Look at the comparative performances of the two Mercs at Bahrain, China, Baku and Canada.

While Bottas may not have had a stellar second half of the season (who aside from Hamilton has?), he has been in contention for multiple wins throughout 2018 and lost out on nearly every occasion thanks to bad luck (Silverstone aside). Of the top 6 drivers, no other has had that happen in 2018. Only Ricciardo’s had a worse run of luck although never while contending for victories and all thanks to reliability.

So no, he’s not the worst second driver since Jos.

No podium finishes among everyone except the top 6 drivers, yay, racing.

P.S. Forgot about Sergio, nevermind. :slaphead:

I still think he lacked killer instinct in Bahrain and a Lewis or particularly Max or Danny would've had Vettel at the end there

Its only after 2 years of Bottas you realise Nico was better than people liked to believe at the time

People have been saying that about Nico for years, which is bad for Nico when you realize your performances aren’t enough to convince people of your talent.

In the same vein, Bottas is better than he’s given credit for. Which is bad for Bottas when you realize you have continually remind people about the facts of the season. Outside of Lewis and Vettel only Bottas contended for more victories than Kimi, Max and Ricciardo. But people will only remember the last few races.

The current state of thinks makes bizarre to imagine Bottas was very close to lead the championship after Baku. But apparently he has a second-half season slump and once again he didn't do much this time of the championship. And finishing the championship in 5th with arguably the best car of the field is a terrible result for him.

Frankly, I needed just 5 races of Bottas at Mercedes to have such impression. And it's a bit of disappointement that in 2 years time he got more distant from Hamilton's level than closer.

For me, the biggest legacy of Bottas' spell at Mercedes is showing how talented Rosberg was and, obviously, how talented Hamilton is. Not a legacy that would leave one proud, I think.
