Apparently the track marshalls are in trouble for letting people onto the track too soon, there will be an investigation.

Couple of people were saying that it was a fuck up of the course car. Marshals were told that when the course car came by with green lights on they could release spectators onto the track, and the guy in the course car turned the lights on too early.

Surely the marshalls could've thought on their own and realise that the cars still hadn't come through from the last lap, no? Especially the ones in the last corner.

Their attention up until then would've mostly been on making sure nobody is going to make an early break for it, they're just waiting for the course car with the green lights and siren, and are probably too occupied with watching the crowd to notice where the cars are on track.

The guys who let the crowd out at the last few corners may have noticed early on that there had been a fuck up, but once you start that, there's no chance in hell of stopping it again.

Not a chance in hell, the marshals at the US GP last year had a hard time keeping the crowd back I was a part of. The cars had already been in from the parade lap for 5 minutes and the people at the front were getting twitchy. A marshal opened a gap in the fence for a 4x4 to get through and people went for it. The 2 marshals and the Sheriff guarding couldn't stop anyone it was like a stampede.

*edit*

I missed it, is this race worth watching back? Or will highlights do the job.

Highlights mate.

Though I'd suggest you watch the start and the first stint until all the leaders have pitted. It was cool to see everyone going again, Vettel was quite close for a while, and the pit exit was epic-ish.

Sounds like just a highlights race to me, I was there and managed to miss most of what was going on haha

Spent most of the race walking from one end of the circuit to the other haha

Got to sit in a corporate box for the last 20 laps or so though, so that was nice

Interesting summary from, and perspective on the race from US comedian Bill Burr. Not necessarily the reaction you'd expect:
