Neither was Michael the other day.

Michael Schumacher really does bring out the worst in people, from fans to haters, and from Damon Hill's weaving in Canada in 98 to Sidepodcast's toys out of the pram when he announced his return last August

So you really think Michael had the intention to push Rubens into a wall?? You actually believe Schumi thought "yeah there comes Rubens, let's let him crash him into the wall"?? Seriously...

I don't think he wanted to cause an accident but it was blatant intimidation and bullying. There's no way he accidentally took him beyond the edge of the circuit

Because it was Rubens? Not at all. Probably.

Because it was another driver looking to overtake? Absolutely.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

That's what he never denied, he wanted to make life for Rubens as hard as possible. He was later suprised how close it really was and therefore apologized.
It was a very questionable move, no doubt about it. Certainly a bit over the line of what we are used to nowadys.

What makes me angry however are those comments you have to read even from those so called "TV-experts": bashing, bashing and yet more bashing. No one was analyzing the incident as such but all you could hear was "typical Michael " and "he needs to get banned" bla bla.

The media coverage was quite biased, yes. More was made of it than necessary. But then that's Britain for you. One week it's Vettel they're targeting, the next it's Alonso, then Michael. If Webber and Hamilton collide in Belgium, no doubt Mark will get it in the neck for ages

However, that doesn't mean Michael was innocent. Two wrongs don't make a right

I was very much disappointed by the BBC in this case to be honest. I expected them to be a bit more fair and sensitive. Same as it was in Canada.

The thing that makes me laugh about Spa 1998 is how Todt walked down to McLaren and told them to get DC out of the way for Michael. Maybe DC would have chosen a better moment to let him through if he hadn't have been advised by the team to get out of the way? Who knows. That move was obviously just a bad misunderstanding.

Schumacher has spent his entire career rubbing most of the paddock up the wrong way.

Brundle, Coulthard and Jordan are freelancers. They don't need their jobs to survive. They do it because they want to. Therefore, they do not need to subscribe to any BBC mantra about neutrality and unbiasness. They can and will say what they want. When that involves Michael, it is going to be negative.

Brundle and DC were on the reciving end of Schumachers driving. I'd rather have there opinion than a 'fair' and 'sensitive' version of the truth.

As Martin said, if any other driver does it you chalk it up as a one off. When Schumacher does it, it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt given his previous track record with such offences. The BBC reaction IMO was fair.

I chose Petrov as well. Difficult season so far, in the shadow of Kubica. But this race he was able to beat him in qualifying and drove a great race on sunday to grab P5. But there are more drivers who did a great job. Webber drove a stunning middle sector on the options to claim victory and Hulkenberg also performed excellent.

However, Petrov deserves it the most in my opinion. Let's hope for him that the remainder of the season goes better as well. He needs it.

Indeed, I did not see the moment when the safety car appeared but was it realy necessary? Or was it just to bring some action in the race? :p
