Bad luck for Dylan O'Keefe, he got pole for TCR but had to start from the pits...

The TCR 500km race at Bathurst has been cancelled again (to be replaced by some sprint races which will now become the TCR championship finale):

The 2022 ARG season starts this weekend at Symmons Plains. TCR, S5000 and TA2 are on the bill. Stan Sport will be doing the broadcast with Channel 9 also showing the first two races of those categories live on FTA TV. Motorsport TV will be showing it outside Aus as in previous years.

https://racetasmania.com.au/calendar/track-schedule-2/

TCR has 20 cars entered, there's a few driver changes with 3 of the top 5 points finishers from 2021 not returning, including Chaz Mostert. On the other hand Will Brown is back to see if he can take his second title and Fabian Coulthard is on the grid, although he's only running the first round at this stage.

Transam driver Chris Pappas was very lucky to survive a traffic accident in a McLaren last night. The car was burnt to a crisp, luckily he and his passenger were pulled out of the wreck by local residents. Pappas did sustain a broken leg and some burns.

TCR/TCM/TA2/AUSGT are at Sandown this weekend. Today's racing was affected by some very heavy weather at stages, with a few races not happening. The TCR race did happen though and saw a wild finish.

Another mad finish in TCR, it suddenly bucketed down on the last lap and the two leaders aquaplaned off the track and went across the sandtrap at the final chicane before rejoining the track and finishing the race. Cox was leading but Ben Bargwanna in 2nd overtook him to take his first win in the series.

This really is the weekend of insane finishes. Bates took the lead from Ibrahim in the GTs on the final lap with a mad move into turn 6 then proceeded to aquaplane and spin into the sandtrap at the final chicane while Yasser Shahin overtook Ibrahim and went on to win the race having been like 3 seconds behind at the start of the final lap.
