Launched as Dutch Supercar Challenge back in 2001 and growing ever since, 2012 marks the loss of the 'Dutch' part as this championship is now sort of merged between Belgium and Holland. Because Belgian racing has completely imploded, with no real racing classes on the horizon at the moment (thank you lawsuits, insults and conflicts between different instances), I know which class I'm going to watch this year.

New Belgian entrants together with the usual Dutch entrants, + some guests from overseas brings the entry tally up to about...100.

Entry list (spoilered for obvious reasons):

DSC is much older, ran as the Supercar series in the end 90s. Rob Knook in the Camaro versus a couple of BMW M3s :) I believe the Compacts used to run as a second class for a year or two.

Saw one race live at Zandvoort back in 97 or 98, great battle between the Camaro and the M3s, the Camaro sound was awesome

Well, I was talking about "DSC" only, which started in 2001. Just like Belcar started after the Carglass Cup.

What happened with BTCS and Belcar. Haven't followed that for like years, so surprised to see 2 healthy championships gone.

Implosion, literally. It started back in 2007 when Zolder handed over Belcar to SRO. Ever since that GT3 concept failed hard and SRO got rid of the championship, fights in the courtroom over who would be allowed to organize BTCS and Belcar have caused both championships to be scrapped. Just last week has been decided that Kronos (you know, the team know from WRC/IRC and Procar back in the days) is now the official organisation for the "Belgian Racing Cars Championship", a mix of BTCS and Belcar. First raceweekend is at the end of May...

Oh that's sad to hear. So no more Zolder 24?

Good to see them keeping their skills up in this championship though.

Zolder has jumped ship early enough to be able to organize the 24 Hours independently. No real restrictions as to who can participate. So (probably) a lot of these cars will be entering there.

Looks like the GT1-guys are friendly enough to keep their stream running for the Supercar Challenge race starting now.
They race in two groups, this is the first group with the "big cars".

This years calendar:
21-04: SRO GT Sprint Zolder
19-05: Slovakia Ring Bratislava Slovakia
09-06: Euroraces Spa Francorchamps
23-06: SUPERSTARS @ ZOLDER
04-08: Gamma Racing Day Assen
08-09: Trophy of the Dunes Zandvoort
29-09: Racing Festival Spa Francorchamps
20-10: Finaleraces Assen

This years grid is not as big as mentioned in the first post for the 2012 season, unfortunately, but still 30+ cars in the Supersport division.
New for this year is the Superlights division, which was specially created because of Praga R1, which could not be placed in any of the other divisions, and among those cars, there will be Radical, Norma, Ligier and that sort of cars. This division has its debut next weekend at the Slovakia Ring.

Looking forward to see those cars next weekend. Gonna be fun :)

oh, and the full races, with natural sounds, from the first round at Zolder are up on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLa-4apJXN00NY7UGKjvnfHtWoAvJvKSFN
