The Winton based teams will certainly have something to say about that. FPR will be looking for a return to form after an extremely poor start to the season. HRT and GRM are fighting for the position of top Holden team and after a 4th and 6th placing in Race 4, Holdsworth and Caruso will be looking for a strong performance at the track that GRM has achieved its best results at.
This weekend for the first time an option tyre will be in use for the V8 Supercars. At some time over the two races the softer compound tyre will need to be used. The tyres will be marked with a yellow wall. To give the teams some practice on the tyres, there will be a special pink walled tyre for Friday practice which will be the only set of softer compound tyres that the teams get for practice this year.
Qualifying stays the same this weekend except that the session can overrun up to 15 minutes as opposed to the 5 minutes allowed at Hamilton, hence if a lengthy red flag occurs there is a greater chance of the session being resumed.
Endurance drivers are allowed to compete in Practice A this weekend to give them some valued track time. Greg Ritter (GRM), Nathan Pretty (JDR), David Wall (WSR), Dean Canto (FPR), Luke Youlden (FPR), Steve Owen (HRT/WAL), Craig Baird (HRT), Shane Price (WAL), Andrew Jones (BOC), Adam Macrow (BRI) are some of the drivers contesting the session.
Confirmed endurance line-ups for the year so far.
