The time is nearing for the first round of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series. The 09 series kicks off with the now regular opener, the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide.
For the first time the cars will be running an ethanol blend fuel, which will result in refueling twice during the Clipsal 500, and could well decide the race if teams miscalculate on fuel usage.

The qualifying system is similar to last year except the final leg has been replaced by the Top 10 Shootout, and qualifying will set the grid for all 2 race weekends.

Other than this the Clipsal 500 sticks to the tried and true format of plenty of on and off track action which never fails to entertain. A 32 car field for the Australian GT Championship is a promising return to form for this series which has struggled in varying forms over the years.

There will be a live radio coverage application on the V8 Supercar website for all 2009 races. This certainly will come in handy for the rounds were races are delayed, and will solve questions on yellow/red flags.

Nice to see Australian GT doing so well, 32 cars is very nice indeed!

That goes for everything btw - any chance of getting the direct links to the Bigpond stream as we've done for Bathurst the last few years?

Whoop, looks like the demise of the Carrera Cup has helped the GT series along nicely. best V8 weekend behind Bathurst, can't wait.

Taken from rgordon's posts in Motorsport Livestreams.
rtsp://wm9.streaming.telstra.com/UCS-wh_V8supe0live4
(Change the last number for varying quality, also to see if V8s are on a separate channel)

If this doesn't work try
http://61.9.191.56/wm9.streaming.telstr ... supe0live3
(again change the last number for varying quality)

If neither work, good luck trying to find another stream. I'm not sure if Channel 7 appears on any stream programs (Sopcast, justin.tv).

Season starts tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Will practice and qualifying be shown live on 7? or is it just the races?

Nice pace from Jason Richards. Dean Fiore is driving for Team Kiwi and was last in the final two sessions, almost 8 tenths off the next position ahead of him and almost 3 1/2 seconds off the session leader.

Denyer
Must be the good engineer behind him :p

What happens when you can't find a 2nd driver, and a skilled one like Macintyre.

McConville wacked the rear of the car at the Senna chicane. Came out on cold tyres, went over the curbs and lost the rear. He'll start 29th for both races.

There's not? I believe differently, I know at least one totally awesome site that has the last lap and aftermath.

Sorry about the triple post earlier. Was posting from my phone at the circuit and everytime I refreshed the page to see if there had been any responses it reposted my post which was annoying.

Two great Touring Car Masters races so far with Gavin Bullas winning both. Nose to tail racing between him and John Bowe, and at times Jim Richards and Brad Tilley.

A nasty crash at the start of the Fujitsu race tonight, with Mark McNally turned around heading up Wakefield St, he was heading towards the outside wall but ended coming back towards traffic with Chris Alajiajan hitting him, after going into a spin in avoidance. The impact was between McNally's rear and Alajiajan's driver side door. Both drivers appeared to be fine though.
