Also Kelly Racing launches at 4:30pm (I assume AEDT) this afternoon so in just over 2.5 hours.

Kelly Racing only announced that Jack Daniels will continue its sponsorship of the team. No announcement for how long but this line suggests for more than 1 year. No word on when the Bargwanna's colours and the 4th car will be launched.

Quote:
The extension of the relationship will see the Kelly brothers race in the colours of Jack Daniel's Racing well into the future as the pair aims to take their one-year-old team to the very front of the V8 Supercars field.

Not a fan of the wheels but otherwise very nice and aggressive.

I came really hard. That is, by far, the best Jack Daniel's V8 Supercar I've seen.

Also loving the HRT scheme as well.

When did Castrol leave the Ford works team? I hate the lack of coverage of V8SC in the States. I never know whats going on. :(

Mid last year I think it was announced that they would leave at the end of the year, but it's since been stated that Castrol will provide some sponsorship to FPR.

I think they wanted to have a full car sponsorship in the colours they wanted (not with the blue requirement that Ford needed) plus having a more marketable driver than Steven Richards will help promote their product.

So who wants to bet that Morris gets excluded from at least one of the races? LOL

Has he received an actual exclusion from any races previously?

Wrong, because I just realised something a couple of days ago, and it has been verified by the latest issue of Motorsport eNews. There is a loophole in the endurance driver selection rule, where the main driver of a car cannot be paired up with another main driver during the season. In this case, Paul Morris is classified as the main driver since he's in the car at the first round, not Greg Murphy, meaning Murphy could team up with Russell Ingall if he wanted to.

Here are the applicable articles in the V8 Supercar rule book:
Quote:
Division A, rule A 5.7.2 VSC Entry Criteria, viz;
“Primary Drivers will no longer be permitted to drive in the same car at Endurance Races.”

Division A, rule A 2. INTERPRETATION & DEFINITIONS
“Primary Driver means the Driver who is Entered to drive a Car at the first sprint round of a Season.”

I can see all these crazy drivers starting the season so the big teams can get around the loophole. "Dougall McDougall to drive the Stone Brothers car in Abu Dhabi" "Rod Nash to drive the HRT car"

They are now plans to close this loophole so it states that a primary driver does a certain amount of races.

One gets the feeling V8Supercars Australia are spending too much time making up & then amending these silly rules, especially with news that Symmons Plains round date has been changed due to VESA seemingly forgetting that Channel 7 was committed to the spring racing carnival on the same date...

Mark Skaife to partner Craig Lowndes in the enduros.
Steve Owen to partner Jamie Whincup in the enduros.

Some good liveries so far.
888 superb.
SBR great though the Lucky7 logo is bugging me.
Gulf Western is promising.

Sprint Tyres only for Barbagallo and Winton.
Sprint Tyres for use only in the Sunday race at Queensland Raceway, Hidden Valley, Symmons Plains and Sandown.
Certainly an improvement on last years rules.

Ewww @ the colour choice on Brights car. Too much silver on Frosties and too messy on Bargs.

Must be on my Period.

OMG a mclaren2008 post that's isn't bullshit! :p

Seriously though, I like the concept, although they would have been better off with having 29 international drivers instead of 17. The new format though makes a mockery of this rule:

Quote:
Division A, rule A 5.7.2 VSC Entry Criteria, viz;
“Primary Drivers will no longer be permitted to drive in the same car at Endurance Races.”

Division A, rule A 2. INTERPRETATION & DEFINITIONS
“Primary Driver means the Driver who is Entered to drive a Car at the first sprint round of a Season.”

And unless I'm mistaken, they're billing it as an endurance race.

It seems you can't read very well.
Quote:
Unlike the new endurance driver rule for Phillip Island and Bathurst, regular drivers will be allowed to pair together, although the 17 international drivers will be allocated and signed to every team.
