We've had what sounds like a huge fire in the 2nd British GT race at Oulton. Colin White collided with with Jon Minshaw and hit the barriers hard. White is ok but the Ginetta was on fire for at least 15 minutes.

David Ashburn took Race 2.

Rast & Mayr-Melnhof have been handed a 30 second time penalty for failing to shut off the engine at the pitstop. Stippler and Sandström win.

That Merc did not sound very healthy after that accident.

in my second pic above, the guy in the hat and glasses is David Sharpe (Toms father) he wandered round the car and basically totalled up the replacement costs of the panels and what he thought it would amount to!... wasnt forthcoming with the numbers but he said its within a few quid of being a write off.

The issue with both cars was that the exhaust runs through the sill and overheated the glassfibre, looks like Ginetta are going to have to have a re-design before the next race. Remember these cars are slightly different and a development of the cars that run in the TOCA series, also in the BTCC Supports they are only running for 20 mins or so, yesterday was 2 1 hours sprints.. and it was all a bit frantic!

Also, White did almost a lap with the car burning.. would have been less of an issue had he pulled up sooner!

Bit of a weekend of highs and lows,I knew a few drivers who were there (mainly from their connection to FUNUP.
Phil Keen won the 1st race brilliant driving!.. his car got smashed up in the 2nd race.


Derek Johnston had a nightmare in both races, Crashing out early in R1 And late in R2

Oli Bryant got a 6th and a 3rd.

in the supports father and son team Bill and Martin Addison had 3 wins (2 for Bill and 1 for Martin)
but this was spoiled when they got back after the podium and found things stolen from their trailer, including Bills wallet which was in his Jeans that were folded up and hidden.. some one had walked in and had a proper root around!.. Bastards
