I'm making a lot of threads recently, maybe we should make "GT & Dentistry Random Discussion"

Red Flag

What is it with this series and being absolutely terribly run during the 1st race of their weekend

First a SC that never ended for rain that came about 20 mins after the SC came out in Imola

Then a Red Flag for....maybe it might be dangerous in the pits, maybe not, in Spa....

Jesus Christ If i was running in this series I'd be asking for serious discounts on my entry fees...

To be fair the wind conditions at Imola were bad and you do have to think about the safety of the marshals in such conditions.

It was definitely the right call with the chaos in the pits but it could have been easily restarted once it was all sorted out. That's the part I don't understand. They weren't in danger of over-running into the main event so I can only say laziness in not wanting to sort out positions?

Is is just me or the catchfence is damaged? There's some weird dark spots near the lights, and also I'm not sure why they would stand nearby

Another car went in under safety car after that clip ended and clipped a couple of stationary cars whilst recovery was underway. Been lots of incidents throughout the race.

Quote:
Two hours after the start of the race on Sunday morning, an impressive collision interrupted the race on the start/finish straight.

It all started with the #28 Nova Proto NP02 of the MV2S Racing team leaving the track, which told us that the prototype flew away, which is reminiscent of the accident of the Mercedes CLR during of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999. Its driver, Roman Krumins, escaped unscathed and found himself the spectator of an even more serious accident.
As he approached the accident area, Stéphane Ortelli slowed down, but was hit by the DKR Engineering LMP3 which was arriving just behind him. Propelled into the wall of tires, the impact was extremely violent for the Monegasque driver of the NP02/Nerguti Competition, while Roman Krumins was still at the edge of the track...

Despite the violence of the images, the news is reassuring for the various drivers involved, and more particularly for the winner of the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. Victim of a double tibia-fibula fracture, he was operated on successfully on Sunday evening. The entire Endurance24 team wishes him a speedy recovery.

So the first car blew over, then the other two caused a launch of their own trying to avoid the stricken car??

Oh man, for a really world class spectator cam, crash of the decade :8:

I'm sure the footage will emerge eventually. It's 2024 after all, not the 80s. There are cameras everywhere.

CCTV have footage but no one can watch it outside the track. I will quote my friend:

Quote:
The car goes wide and hit the beginning of the gravel and went dumbreck 99 mode , one flip and then lands backwards

So yes, the first car on shot is in fact aftermath footage of the first blowover, then rest we can kinda seen on the screen. So in fact it was two blowovers in kinda separate wrecks in the same place

If it was the edge of the gravel was it a blowover or just a webber at Malaysia/Petrov at....err also Malaysia? style launch off the lip between gravel and grass without aerodynamic lift?

Ehhh, I guess we'll never know

Not unless your friend was clever enough to record the screen of the CCTV with his phone or anything.... :whistling:
