Well, the city looks pretty enough.

The circuit might be decent too.

If it actually doesn't get cancelled, I don't think it will last more that one maybe two races. They'll realize no one gives much of a fuck in China for motorsport and they'll stop going there.

Heard a few weeks back that Lotus had received their new Dallara chassis, but their first on-track test has now been delayed from the middle of next month to somewhere in January:

Also, the new car was slow at Indy:

I think the problem with DW12 for being slow is that it doesn't have that much downforce at the front as the old car. They still have the negative rake on it, so they're still trying to get rid of aerodynamics. Give them more power and they can use more downforce and get rid of the bad rake without losing speed on straights.

I see the cornering understeer as a positive problem for this car. It doesn't have the downforce to make cornering too easy. Giving them, say, 100 - 150hp more from raising the maximum boost could make this car very interesting.

Its a new car so some issues are to be expected, Im sure all will be sorted by the time they actually get to running the speedway package at Indy next May.

So what would you put the turn in over steer down to?

I respect the decision to keep the Vegas thread to show the compassion of this forum during the darker moments in our sport, but does it HAVE to be in the Hall of Fame?

Can't we create a new section called the Memorial or something and put it in there?

It just feels weird having a fatal accident thread amongst the Hall of Fame, which imo is supposed to celebrate the downright amazing races/moments on this forum, the creme de la creme if you like.
So basically your Talladegas, your Snettertons and your Baltimore street races where you spend more time yelling at the officials than the race itself, not something that really sits well with having a fatal accident thread in there, imo.

Though I imagine this conversation has probably been debated by the mods already so if I'm only retreading old ground, I apologise.

Umm, I try very hard to understand what you are asking from me, but I just can't figure that out. So my english isn't that fluent after all. Could you please rephrase that?

According to the drivers, the car is "wicked loose" on corner entry, and "wicked tight" on exit (Dan Wheldon's exact words), indicating that it's not as simple as a downforce/aero problem.

To me it seems the car has too much rear weight, which on corner entry is causing the "tail to wag the dog" and then on corner exit, it's squatting down causing the under steer, a nightmare from an engineers point of view to sort btw.

I just wondered what you're opinion of the cause was, maybe this is a conversation best left to the technical discussion thread you started though.

I'd love to think he'd be in a race car but I guess he'll make a visit to the paddock and meet his old friends.

Ok, let's take the talk in the technical section, if you don't mind. I'll give me thoughts about this right there. :)

Well it's been 1 month since the Indycar world was turned upside down, I must admit it feels a lot longer, R.I.P Dan
