I suppose only the 19 "surviving" cars can do tribute laps?

He was the one who flew first and far over the fence at the left of the image involved on fire...

They said they were showing more replays. You were all warned. This is the story, the story will be covered. They were speaking in hushed tones and in a respectful manner.

The last external replay showed exactly what took his life though. No disrespect to Dan but it's miraculous that there wasn't a whole slew of terrible injuries though. Cars flying around and bouncing off one another. The speed and angle of Power's impacts were shocking as well. You'll never see anything like this again. At least I hope not.

It's been a while since I have posted on this forum, and I hate that it comes at a moment like this to come back. I was hoping that American motorsports was passed moments like this. The whole of the American sports community is saddened by the news that was announced a few minutes ago. I fuckin' hate that this had to happen, and a great champion was lost today.

Dan Wheldon, You will be missed.

When they started playing Amazing Grace on the backpipes, that's where I lost it

Amazing Grace brought the tears. That's a memory I'll have for a long long time.

Tears here as well...

The sound of the stationary roaring cars brought a massive lump to my throat.

Why did the track announcer have to keep on talking during the parade? A lap of silence was too much asked for?

Just so, so sad. The whole season seems irrelevant, so does next year. Just awful. I'll never forget that last turn of the Indy 500 this year
