I assume they'll still use the new rules that made the last oval races from last year so awesome?

Should be good stuff. This race will most likely feature one of the largest grids this year outside of Indianapolis, with 27 cars on track (Texas should also feature 27).

Pre-race oval testing earlier in the week was cancelled due to rain, and I think it has been rescheduled to some time this coming week. So the real 'Free Practice 1' session will effectively be that.

Official entry list and spotter guides are out; no suprises to mention.

Cannot wait to get the action started. The race should potentially be a good one; rememebr that this is the first race in which the lack of fuel mixture controls for fuel strategy will really become apparent. Will we see the end of fuel saving strategies on ovals this year?

Rookie testing has been apparently been going on today, tho details are a bit hazy. Sato has sucessfully done a good bit of running according to KV's twitter feed. Hasn't crashed yet then!! :p More tomorrow afaik.

Haven't been able to watch praccy today, but it seems that nothing has been missed:

Poor weather delays Kansas practice
Friday, April 30th 2010, 15:15 GMT

Practice for the Kansas IndyCar Series round has been delayed due to extremely poor weather conditions at the track.

A heavy hailstorm greeted the teams this morning, and the weather is forecast to remain unpleasant throughout the day.

Two practice sessions had been scheduled today, along with qualifying for Saturday afternoon's race. The Indy Racing League is yet to announce how it could alter the weekend schedule.

The Kansas event, round four of the 2010 season, is the first oval event of this year's championship, and with the usual pre-season oval test put back to the first week of May, the weather disruption is a blow for teams in need of mileage on the speedways. Rookies Takuma Sato, Mario Romancini, Bertrand Baguette and Simona de Silvestro did manage to test at the track earlier this week, though.

According to twitter the conditions will be fine for FP2 tho.

FP2 should be on atm, but on race control they seem to be currently trying to dry the track. (That or they are having a race with 6 ambulances going round and round)

Briscoe won the pole.

Apparently the entire field was separated by half a second during the first practice session.
