and TRD is American. So no.

TRD US is American, TRD Japan is (shockingly) Japanese.

Do they even have TRD in Japan? Isn't the operation run by Tom's?

It's called Toyota Technocraft in Japan, but branded TRD Japan for those outside Japan.

Yeah, you were right, I looked it up this morning. But still, considering IndyCar is an American sport, wouldn't that announcement come from TRD USA?

Not necessarily, and I'm sure the Reaction in Japan would have been a lot bigger than say in the US. It'd be like if Ferrari were to come in. Not doing an announcement in Italy would just be stoopid...

It should be noted that Ferrari wouldn't come in as Ferrari. Probably as Alfa, or maybe even as Fiat seeing as they're going to be breaking into the American market soon. Hell, they might go as far as to badge them as Chryslers.

It should also be noted that none of that is a business decision, but purely due to the fact that Alonzo doesn't want ANYONE to go faster than him...

Lotus expands partnership with KV for 2011 - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/87051

They will run at least 2 cars next season and Lotus will build aero-kit for 2012.

Well they tried to get Cosworth sponsorship on the #5 this year until someone pointed out they had Honda engines. But also Lotus road cars are powered by Toyota engines

And it's worth saying again that this is Lotus Cars, which has nothing to do with the F1 team as of the end of 2010 season

Yes, Kalkhoven is co-owner of Cosworth and Lotus Cars have a partnership with Cosworth.

It should also be noted that Cosworth does tuning as well as making their own engines.

Until Abu Dhabi, don't forget Renault can be the new engineer of Lotus next year.

And which Lotus is the old F1 Lotus? The Indy Lotus or the current F1 Lotus?

If by the "old F1 Lotus" you mean Team Lotus, then as of next year it will be the current F1 Lotus, what is currently known as Lotus Racing

But then that's just a name. The "old F1 Lotus" was dead after the 1994 season. The rights to the Team Lotus name were bought by David Hunt, stuck on the side of the Pacific for a year, and then sat there and did nothing in particular for ages, until Tony Fernandes bought the rights to the name this year in time for the 2011 season
