Overall i think we've had very good races on the previous years, just last year's race seemed to lack any sort of drama, other than Meira trying to catch Dixon, even when everyone knew that it was practically impossible.

Yee-ha everyone, May is SO exciting!!

The only thing I care about however is the anticipation of another IRL train-wreck. With that in mind, we can have some fun predicting some outcomes. I'll list some stats we can bet on, and you say if you think that stat will be "OVER" (the number I give), "UNDER" (the number I give), or the "SAME" (as the number I give).
[i]ex: if the item was: "Number of cars Bumped from the field in qualifying: 3", and you think they'll actually be 5 cars bumped, you would say "over" as your number is greater than the # given. If you think only 1 or 2 cars will be bumped, you'd say "UNDER", and if you agree that 3 cars only will be bumped, you'd say "SAME".

- Each correct guess earns 1 pt.
- Winner obviously is the one with most points.
- To avoid an overall tie situation, each entrant will state what they think the Indy 500 "tv rating" figure will be. (It was a 4.5 last year, and a 4.3 the year before). The winner will be decided as the one whose prediction is closest to the actual "tv rating" figure (up or down).

- If you wish, when you make your entry, you can add your specific prediction/comments by each, though it's not necessary.

  • the over-under on IndyCar or Indy Lights drivers sent to the hospital during the Month of May is::
    7
  • the over-under on IndyCar or Indy Lights drivers suffering back injuries (including "soreness") during the Month of May is:
    5
  • the over-under on IndyCar crashes during Practice sessions and Qualifying is:
    9
  • the over-under on IndyCar crashes (cars retiring due to contact) during the race is:
    6
  • the over-under on Indy Lights crashes during Practice, Qualifying or Race is:
    9
  • the over-under on number of pit road accidents during the Month of May (IndyCars only) is:
    3
  • the over-under on American TV ratings for the 2009 running of the Indianapolis 500, as stated by Nielsen in the days following the event is:
    4.1 (final, not overnight)
    ----> TIE-BREAKER: Actual Rating will be: x.x

I thought 2006 and 2007 were pretty good. Shame that the rain spoilt things in 2007.
2008 saw too many coutions, it was like: 5 laps of racing, 10 laps under yellow, 5 laps of racing, 10 under yellow and so on.

Im placing a bet. $10 says Danica DNQ's.
i say your going to lose you $10 :p

theres no way danica doesn't qualify under normal circumstances, shes in a top car,has been driving well this year so far, always runs well at indy and is nearly always fast in qualifying when given a half decent car.

i say she easily makes the field and ends up somewhere on the front 2 rows.

Anything can happen tho.

You know that'd be the most hilarious thing ever if Danica DNQ'd.

You place your bet on weather you think the actual result will be OVER or UNDER the prediction.

I Can't see anyone from the top few teams DNQ'ing to be honest.

Reason been that the top teams have such an advantage over the smaller one's, especially the Indy only entry's that I don't see them been able to get close enough to bump them out the field.

In the past you could get top teams/drivers DNQ (Penske in 95, Rahal in 93 for instance) because you had many different Chassis/Engine combo's so there were some big variables from team to team.

Its not impossible to see someone from a top team get bumped from the top 11 on Pole Day & with some of the competition this year I expect a Pole Day surprise with a big name losing out & been bumped, however by the end of day 2 Qualifying I expect everyone from the Top teams to be safely in the field.

By Bump Day, Im expecting it to be the Indy One Off's fighting for the final starting spot with all the season Regular's safely in. I think Bump Day could be quite intresting this year.
