Leader has changed a couple of times and frantic racing in the midfield. Just like yesterday.

Some big and scary moves by Leclerc in this race, I am not surprised by that end. But I'm not saying he's done anything wrong too.

What was that cameraman thinking?

Some of the camera work recently has been dire....WTF was that guy thinking panning away from the torpedo and onto a car running slowly through the gravel...

All that great overtaking work by Leclerc and he gets Nico Rosberg'd off the road by a block, he was keeping the car straight and the car in front kept coming over on him
Horrible crash tho

Since both cameras were panning away my guess is that it was done on purpose to censor potentially serious incidents.

Things happen so fast, I don't think the camera guy can think that fast. Maybe both cameras were operated by the same dued.
For FIA's accident investigation it's imperative to always document the crash. They want all the possible angles.
So, just poor camerawork.

Great race once again. After this processional saving Sunday of F1 will feel even duller. :tumble:

FOM cameramen are doing this for years now so they know exactly what they are doing. And both cameramen were panning away at exactly the same moment so it looks like they got the order from the director to pan away from the impact which was about to happen.

I doubt FIA will be happy with a director that "destroys" precious footage before it even happens. Yes, there are CCTV cameras as well as more onboards, but for investigation it's most important to catch the accident clearly. If the director wants to censor the crash from general public, he just cuts to different camera. One button press to switch the camera. No need for panning.

As said, it's very rare that there's enough time for a cameraman or the director react at all or do any decision. Crashes happen in milliseconds, even though in this instance there was a delay because of the grass sliding.

Yeah it's incompetence/director telling them both to focus on something else upfield when they weren't "live", rather than some policy to avoid an impact

Either that or they just got confused and didn't realise which car the director was telling them to focus on.
I've done camerawork a bit when I was at uni, it's definitely hard to hear ANYTHING in your ears when there's the sort of noise you get at a motorsport event

That was exactly my thoughts. At first I was like what the fuck...then after seeing BOTH of them do it at the same time after both initially focusing on Leclerc, it was pretty apparent to me that they are under instruction to avoid showing a Hubert style crash if they can.
