Yeah it's incompetence/director telling them both to focus on something else upfield when they weren't "live", rather than some policy to avoid an impact

Either that or they just got confused and didn't realise which car the director was telling them to focus on.
I've done camerawork a bit when I was at uni, it's definitely hard to hear ANYTHING in your ears when there's the sort of noise you get at a motorsport event

Didn't see any of this, but I would add (as another former media student) that tracking with a camera really messes with your peripheral vision. I don't think there's a conspiracy at work here; camera work simply isn't as simple as a lot of people think.

The director has much, much more ability to cut away from things like this.

Also from what I've learnt in the big Digital Spy Forum f1 thread over the years, the cameraman has a button they can press that forces their camera to override the director's controls and show their pictures live on the broadcast
It's used if the cameraman knows he's not live but sees something like a car flipping down the grass or a crucial pass for the lead or techinical retirement among the leaders, etc....

Hardly the attitude of a broadcast that wants to censor live accidents imo

Interesting. I wonder how often that happens? On the contrary, it seems more and more frequently we only see yellow flag banner, but they don't cut to the scene. So obviously no buttons are pressed by the cameramen there. Even phantom VSC/SCs are not exclusive for Monaco anymore.

Though there seem to have been some variety on how quickly they react in a case of an accident. I remember that at Suzuka they would often catch the end of the crash, switching to the camera while the accident is still happening. I like that style. Seeing a car off makes your heart skip a beat, and even if it's only a harmless spin, it's more exciting than just seeing a yellow indicator at top left corner implying something has happened. Yet, there's no reason why Suzuka coverage would be special, because Fuji TV hasn't produced the coverage since 2011.

I don't actually know who's the current director of F1 or whether there are multiple directors who share their job during the season. Can someone enlighten me?

Red Flag during Q1 for Formula Regional at Spa. It was one big race and ended in few spins and contacts just after few minutes

I can't stand that Euroformula Open commentator.

Car into the gravel trap.

Can they start the race? Some cars must be way behind after pitting. OR they start from the pit...i dunno.
