So fucking sick of this shit. Seriously. Thats, what, the 5th time this season Rahal has had a competitive car only to be smashed into? He should be 5th in points now he'll be lucky if he makes the top ten.

Boy is Helio angry at the decision

Well, you can see the yellow Helio passed under, so it's a legit penalty.

More worrying is the random safety truck on the inside of turn 1 on the final lap, not covered under yellows. Whilst it is on the inside, KV proved you can get there quite easily. But we wouldn't expect IndyCar to have the safety crews organised properly now would we.

It's not the being given a penalty it's the harshness of it.

It's not really harsh though because it wasn't just being relegated to a random place. It'd have been a drive through, which, with the pack bunched up like that would have put him there.

It seems harsh, but it's actually the right penalty, Helio was just unlucky he did it at the end and that the cars were bunched up.

I think Helio made the pass like Scumacher did on Panis at US GP some years ago, just before the yellow flag zone started.

A drive through would be what, 25 seconds? He'd have been 20th, not 22nd. He's basically been given 1:32 penalty.

To be fair, KV cars can end up anywhere.

If you're braking into a corner with yellow flags out, the last thing you'll expect is for someone to dive inside you, Helio would have had to have had the move nearly complete before the point he actually starts it for it to be acceptable in my book.

Fair point I suppose. I doubt it'd have made any difference, but it is yet another random penalty from IndyCar then.

So no penalty for Bourdais.

Effectively no penalty for Dario (not surprised).

Helio gets a harsh penalty.

Officials need to get a grip fast!

What is the standard penalty for a move like Dario? Back of the longest line seems like a relevant one to me. Or do they just pick one out of a hat and that's a penalty?

What did Bourdais do?

Post subject:  Re: Indycar @ Motegi

Bourdais kinda did the same as Dario. He clattered into Hunter-Reay. Ryan ended up in the gravel.

End of the line when your at the back already ISN'T a penalty!!!!!

Out of a hat it seems.

Fair point that it's not a good penalty, BUT, if that's the penalty (no idea, I gave up following IndyCar) then they can't just change it to a better penalty - that's exactly what we've been complaining about.

Should be a drive through served under green or 25 seconds added on if the race finishes before penalty can be taken.

kanaan speeds by what maybe a mile an hour over in the pits loses 21 (i believe) spots due to his penalty. dario make a dive bomb moves collects a few guys causes a caution and is told to drop back a spot. this under yellow while tony's was under green. ya thats sounds fair i'd say..........

Barnhart needs to go, obviously. But that probably won't happen with Bernard in the position he is in...unless the teams unanimously agree Barnhart needs to go, then maybe.

Thats the problem though, There is no defined penalty its all at the discretion of race control & there are so many other areas of the Indycar rule book where its the same & thats why penalty's are so inconsistent.

For what Dario did others have got Drive-Thru's, Regardless of where Dario was in the field he should have got a Drive-Thru because that would have been the consistent penalty. Same for Bourdais who got no penalty at all for putting Hunter-Reay in a gravel trap.

For 2012 we need a clean slate. A new rulebook with penalty's clearly defined in order to bring in consistency & we need someone new in race control, Someone who has the respect of teams, drivers & fans & who understands racing.
