Results from Sao Paulo will be up tonight, I promise you. But it's the Month of May! Yay! As such, since Indianapolis has a different qualifying format, I'm splitting the month into three rounds centered around one race. The first round is Pole Day, to be held on May 21st. All you have to do here is pick the front row. Points are awarded if you just name three drivers that will start at row one, one per driver. Example: if you picked Will Power, Scott Dixon, and Helio Castroneves to start at the front row, but the actual front row is Castroneves, Power, and Dixon, you will only receive three points. Accurately pick the front row, in that order, will net you two points per driver. Example: if you picked Will Power, Scott Dixon, and Helio Castroneves to start at row one, and they qualify in that order, you will get six points. One bonus point will be given out to those who guess the pole average speed correctly. To be awarded that point, you must be 1 MPH above or below the actual pole average speed. The second round is Bump Day on May 22nd. Same as Pole Day, but you pick the last three in--row 11. Example: Paul Tracy, Sebastien Bourdais, and Takuma Sato are your three drivers, but the actual order is Sato, Tracy, and Bourdais. You only get three points. If the last three in reads Tracy, Bourdais, and Sato; you get 6 points. Here, guess the FASTEST average speed, since pole average speed does not matter here. Again, for that bonus point, you must be within 1 MPH above or below the actual fastest average speed. Carb Day will be treated as a bonus round. All you have to do here is guess the winner of the Freedom 100 Indy Lights race and the winner of the pit crew challenge. That's one point each. You don't have to do this. This leads to the main event: the Indianapolis 500. Again, pick five, and the same bonuses apply (except pole award bonus because of Indy's unique qualifying rules). For another bonus point, guess the race's average speed. Again, you must be within 1 MPH off--above or below-- the actual average speed. Picks due: Pole Day (also known as Tom Carnegie day): May 21st, picks are closed as soon as the first car hits the track Bump Day: May 22nd, picks are closed as soon as the first car hits the track Carb Day: May 27th, picks are closed 10 minutes before the Indy Lights race (optional) The Indianapolis 500-mile Sweepstakes: May 29th, picks are due 10 minutes before the command. |
