And the NHRA is the most glorious motorsport to watch in HD with all their super slo-mos, heat hazes and spanky new liveries.

I've honestly not seen another racing series look as good in HD as that, and that includes Sky Sports F1 HD, NASCAR, Grand-Am and any other motorsport that doesn't race on Motors TV :p

If anyone missed the final laps to the finish with the interviews then here you are:

Just caught up through the thread. Wonder if Special Ed hates the racing so much now...

Two years in a row that he wins the last oval race of the year.

Great job by Kathy as well. :) Hopefully Dragon can get two cars out there full time next year.

IndyCar really needed that as a finale.

Got back from the track. Fuck, I don't know where to start...

I caught the Power crash on the corner of my eye. My initial thought was RHR is the champ...until I found out that he needs to finish 6th (later 5th) or better to win. No scanner on me, tho, so it's through reading this thread that I found out about the suspension problem RHR had. With a problem like that, he drove his heart out and it sure did paid off.

A couple of cautions looked innocuous from sitting at the stands. The video monitors are too small for my eyes so I can't tell if the wrecks were serious enough to warrant a caution. So, yeah, huge difference between TV and in-person.

When the red flag came out, my initial thought was "that's what Brian Barnhart would do." But then I realized that in a race that should have been red-flagged, he lets them go anyway. Still, it's odd that IndyCar throws out the red in a manner that would make NASCAR jealous. Also, Michael Andretti should just shut the fuck up.

I wasn't kidding when I said that Takuma Sato lives by the Senna quote.

Finally...UHMERICUH...FUCK YEAH!

Dam I fell asleep with 30 to go, just watched the finish, glad to be proven mostly wrong, was a good race, especially for RHR :)

I apparently fell asleep before the power crash and woke up at the finish, lame. Missed everything.

Great race, great champion, great season

This race really had everything, unbelievable how that championship slowly went towards RHR this race.

I'll revise what I said before and saw that throwing a red if there's a wreck with <10 laps to go is a good call to ensure the maximum number of racing laps to the finish, as opposed to my previous stance that GWC should be introduced.

In fact, to keep purists happy, I'm not sure why that red-flag with <10 laps to go thing cannot be officially introduced into Nascar races too.

I love how so many Indycar seasons have such a dramatic finale; I don't know how they keep on making it happen!!

I really wanted Power to win, but RHR has done a solid job this year. And an American winning the championship can only be a good thing in terms of popularity for the series in the States.

Bring on next year!!

Has a video of Satos crash been posted yet? I've still not seen a replay.

Just lookup "Sato crash" on Youtube. They're all pretty much the same.

They do it sometimes.

I still find it hard to believe Will Power actually crashed out of the race, not even close to half distance.

I also find it hard to believe Sato crashed with what, less than one lap to go? How does someone go almost 500 miles and just lose it like that at the end?

It's too bad that we couldn't see if Helio had enough speed to overtake RHR. Great strategy by Team Penske nonetheless.

Yeah, even before NASCAR implemented the GWC, they tried to stop the race at a certain point to ensure a green-flag finish. Works some of the time, but that also requires the drivers to stop driving like idiots...which is hard to do in a late race situation.

You know your singer sucks when the car performs a better rendition of the anthem than her.

EDIT: Just uploaded the pictures on Facebook. Featuring more shots of the post-race than the pre-race and the actual race:
