Just now saw video of the Lights finish, and holy shit. The fact that they went three wide through the last turn, and 4 wide down the stretch, and never so much as made contact was outstanding. If I had been watching that race live, I would have thought for sure they would have wadded all four of those cars up.

Surely being disappointed in any way at all at a finish like that, regardless of series, or build up, or politics, or potatos, or cauliflowers, or anything, is like an avid football fan watching their team thrash a competitive rival team 5-0, and then leaving the stadium shaking their head and going... "Well this is just fucking awful...yeah yeah 5-0 but I could have scored 4 of those goals, none of them were special or required any kind of skill...once upon a time when everything in the world had a hideous "warmth" Photoshop filter applied to it, it was all about how far you could kick and curve a ball, now it's just about who can keep just ahead of the defender behind them...pah!"

I'm not disappointed by the finish. 4 wide to the line is crazy, I just think the cars are shitty for this type of track and I hope they get a better package for the overall race. I snoozed through 39 1/2 laps.

Didn't you feel like looking over the last couple of pages before posting that?

I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed the race as a whole. As was said before, this is not typical racing. They guys in the booth had it right. Any of the top 3 could've passed each other when they wanted, but they can't break away, so it required more thought to be put into it then just going balls to the wall. Sage would've completed the pass down the back straight but whoever was in the white car swung high and it stalled all three cars, which how Dempsey caught them coming out of 4.

Amazing finish and really top notch driving from all 4 of them not to end up in the wall. Those bitching that CART was all that (and I happen to mostly agree with that statement) should remember how Juan and Michael dueled wheel to wheel at the end of the 2001 Michigan 500.

It's easy to play arm chair crew chief. I do it too, all the time, especially in the NASCAR threads. But that was a for real, honest to God holy shit finish, and you just can't take that away from it.

Bring on Sunday. I too feel like we're in for something good.

That was one of the best finishes I've ever seen on any race track. Really good publicity for the series to have a finish like that.

Charlie Kimball has the flu, he missed the parade because he's in the hospital.

And being diabetic, that will take a lot longer to recover from. Hope he can still race ok.

So, a trip update.

Myself, Chin, Stroski and his younger brother are all staying in a hotel room in Edinburgh. Chin and I went to Carb Day and I got Donald Davidson and AJ Watson's autographs in a book about the 1964 winning roadster. Watson's 89 years old, so waiting around 10 minutes and spending 18 bucks was well worth it. Josh and I saw the Indy Lights race from the stand b penthouse, which is right before you get to turn 1. We all were in shock at the finish of the race.

We went to the Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The average age of the spectators was over 50, and it was rather interesting that there was a prejudiced pre-invocation political statement about Muslims. We saw Schrader win a modifieds race but he didn't have much competition. The Hoosier Hundred itself was okay, not too many passes for the lead, Levi Jones ended up winning the race.

We went to the memorabilia show earlier today and we got a lot of stuff. I got a couple of posters and a die-cast, not to mention some press items. Jack got a lot of die-casts that are on top of the air conditioning unit in the room. We went to the parade afterwards and the religious protesters are stepping up their game this year. One poster had a picture of an aborted fetus on it. Anyway, I got another crew shirt signed by Will Power, so that was fun.

In other fun news, we have a stand up version of Daytona USA on the third floor of the hotel, so we wasted a few dollars there. I nearly broke the wheel when I leaned against it, but in the end it just made it more glitched, I think. Either way, we had fun.

Here's to a safe race tomorrow!

No live TV coverage in France. 150 countries will show the race live, and France won't.
Seriously, fuck this shit.

Hope I will got a good stream for tonight. I don't want this week-end, the famous "I exist for nobody" week-end to finish without the Indy500.

It's live on Be sport, Flanders hasn't given a shit for 20 years. In Wallonië it's been live for most years, in the past on ABmoteurs.
