He tried to pass her in the dog leg before the corner. It was a stupid place to try a pass. Even if he'd managed to avoid a wreck, at best he'd have been on the wrong side of the upcoming hard left hander. Danica would have easily kept the position.

It's no surprise his move caused a wreck, it was a nearly impossible place to pass. Other drivers would not expect anyone to be there.
