Ridiculous to even consider reviewing that finish. But I guess a US driver win is at stake, so who knows? :yuk:

Wheldon could hardly avoid passing Hildebrand under yellow, seeing as JR was grinding along the wall with half a car...

Well, what can you say - every team on their own? It's not unheard of that a team tries to win by a protest in racing, pick any series you wish.

To be fair, I can see why he made the decision he made. Kimball was SOOO SLOW in that corner. And if he wasn't out of fuel, there's really no excuse for it. Wheldon actually beat Kimball to the line, so that shows just how damn ridiculous it was. Hildebrand would probably have passed Kimball off T4 but he would have had almost no chance at regaining too much speed with the lack of torque in these engines. Plus there was the worry of fuel so he probably had momentum on his mind and nothing else.

Such a shame. All kinds of shit just lined up and put him in a really awkward position at the worst possible moment.

He didn't win 2nd place, he lost the win...

(at least that's how JR will think about it the rest of his life)

Wheldon won. Go look at the video. The caution lights never came on until after Wheldon had passed J.R....

Yeah, this. Kimball was totally slow and should have yielded to the outside.

Yes, it's dumb, but you know damn well that if you were in his position you would do the same thing.

I don't think the protest is changing anything.

On the other hand I agree what the Sky Sports commentators said, it's not right to put rookies do their first oval race at Indy. Kimball and Hildebrand just proved it.

I saw that coming too, but I just couldn't believe it when it happened. I'm so gutted, but still delighted somehow that we live through to see such a finish. And that it wasn't a Ganassi in 2nd place.
If this stuff has to happen somewhere, it should be at Indy. The greatest race in the world. I'm emotional.

But at the same time, if Kimball had gone where Hildebrand ended up going, it would've been the same result of a car in the wall.

That race:

First laps: 0/10
Thought Baguette would win: 10/10
Baguette wasn't going to win: 0/10
Hildebrand going to win: 10/10
Finish: 100/10
