since when is Brno in Asia? 8O

btw, these GP3 series make it less likely that there will be a F2 I think... or maybe FIA decided they would better atract a series then create a new one... or, if Bernie organised the deal, it was a way to avoid having a F2 series
I don't know the details of the deal ofcourse.

edit: I looked it up and it seems Bernie is responsible for the deal, sow it is propably a way to battle the F2 plans :)

Mika Mäki will test GP2 car later in the autumn according to MTV3 MAX. Red Bull will arrange tests and I´ll assume team will be Arden.

Just a question, any aussies in frame for a gp2 asia test or drive for this coming asia season? I know Nathan Antunes tested last season and was quite quick, but didn't get a drive. any news?

I was also wondering, does GP2 Asia have any streams too?

Cheers! :)

GP2 Asia has occasional streams, you have to be around to find them (usually justintv)

Only Aussie in the frame now is Daniel Riccardo, Red Bull backed driver in the Formula Renault 2.0 series (which he has been leading). He also had 1 start in the F3 euroseries at Nurburgring with a 6th and a DNF on debut.

Yeah, Daniel is a great driver, but he wont be in it as he still has his Eurocup and WEC seasons on at the same time. He is very talented and is probably or is Australia's next hope as a f1 driver after Webber! I saw that F3 euro debut of his after i read on his website, that 6th was a awesome drive for a guy with not much experiance and had never tested an f3 car before, to jump in the car and go quick like that so quickly! Awesome young driver he is!

The silly season begins ahead of the post-season Paul Ricard test

- Oliver Turvey, Marcus Ericsson, Diego Nunes and Nelson Philippe will test for iSport

- Andi Zuber will test for FMS

- Sergio Perez will test for Campos along with Vitaly Petrov, whilst Lucas di Grassi is tipped to stay on next year as well if he doesn't make into F1

- Paul di Resta is also possibly to return to single-seaters at the test for his F3 team, ART

Suprising about Paul Di Resta, but indeed DTM isn't the way to get into F1 (except if you do it the Albers way). But maybe he can stay in DTM as the DTM and F1 weekends don't clash.

He's concentrating on Superleague for now. He's even quit the FIA GTs

I know, I read, but commiting to the Superleague...is the wrong move. I don't think any other driver is doing that out of choice.

Good news. Awesome to see that di Resta is trying a comeback.

I've read in a blog (awesome source, lol) that Parente is looking into the Campos seat too.

Nelson Philippe. An ex-champcar driver, won a great race in Surfers Paradise a few years ago. What has he been doing lately?

Parente won't test this week at Paul Ricard but expects to do the Jerez test at the 29th and 30th of October. He is in negotiations/contacts with the following 4 teams: ART, iSport, Racing Engineering and Campos.

Not surprising, they're the best teams. If you want to move to F1 on merit, you'll have to win the championship or make a serious championship bid - looking at the last 4 years, that's much easier with an ART or an iSport. They've finished every championship with a driver in the top 4.

I think right about any decent driver will "talk" to them. But few have a decent shot to get those seats - unless they bring a pile of money like I guess Chandhok and Yamamoto must've brought this year.

Drivers I'd like to see in GP2 next year:

Grosjean, Parente, D'Ambrosio (good rookies, need 2nd season);
Buemi (still young);
Conway (hasn't been given a decent chance);
di Resta (hasn't given up on open-wheel);
van der Garde (suddenly very impressive in WSR this season);
Hulkenberg, Mortara, Van Der Zande, Maki (frontrunners in F3 Euroseries all beating their team-mates);
Turvey, Alguersuari, Hartley (team-mates in British F3 but it's very close between them);
Pérez, Mustonen, Ericsson (also frontrunners in British F3 beating their team-mates);
Carlo van Dam (arrived to Japan and beat everyone in F3 in his 1st season);
Albuquerque (forgotten in A1GP but very good IMO).

Add a couple of GP2 old bastards like Zuber and Maldonado, one or two inexperienced backmarkers like Kobayashi, Nunes and Valsecchi who could still come good, and we'd have a great field.

Tbh I'm not too sure about all these F3 guys as I haven't followed it that closely, but GP2 needs a lot of new guys. This years field didn't seem as good as expected.
