The track looks a bit dull for me. But there are still some overtaking spots.

Earl Bamber made an impressive debut for NZL. Now it's time to see if van der Drift can do something like that. And another interesting debut is Marco Andretti for USA.

Good, the more big names for Albuquerque to annihilate, the better.

The term was originally coined by Graham Hill for the Le Mans Bugatti track - compare it to the alternative French GP venues (Rouen, Reims, Clermont Ferrand etc) and you'll understand what he meant.......

If Turns 5-12 have a good flow to them it might be alright, but if it's spurt of gas, brake, it could be awful. By good flow, I refer to the types of corners, say Suzuka-S is an example of what I mean. Constant mid-speed with little braking.

The track reminds me of Fuji. Not sure which layout it reminds me of, though.

My impression from that video is that the track has this fluent parts.

Nicolas Prost will finally make his A1GP race debut this weekend in Chengdu, A1 Team France has confirmed.

With regular driver and Zandvoort Feature race winner Loic Duval unavailable for selection for this weekend’s Chinese race – the team was always going to have to look elsewhere for its race driver.

After two days of extensive testing at Silverstone, it has decided to promote its regular rookie driver Prost – son of four-time Formula One World Champion Alain – to lead driver duties for the second round of the championship, as it looks to move into the lead of the championship.

“We’ve made a great start to the 2008/09 championship and we feel it’s time to give Nicolas his chance,” said sporting director Olivier Panis. “Since last season he’s done a great job for the team, and seems ready to take up the challenge posed by the race.

“We’ll do everything we can to make his weekend as easy as possible, and we’re convinced his performance in China will be an eye-opener for many people.”

The 27-year-old has promised to make the most of the opportunity. “I’m very happy to be part of A1 Team France’s Chinese adventure this weekend,” Prost said. “I felt at home straight away in the new car, and I set competitive times in my first test behind the wheel. So I’m tackling this meeting with confidence, but I’ll take things step-by-step.”

Doornbos to make debut in China

By Pablo Elizalde Thursday, November 6th 2008, 11:25 GMT

Robert Doornbos will make his debut with A1 Team Netherlands at this weekend's race in the Chinese round of the championship.

The Dutch driver, currently racing in the Superleague series, will take over from Jeroen Bleekemolen, who drove in the opening round at Zandvoort.

Team Netherlands had already announced at the start of the season that they would be rotating their drivers during the year.

"I'm really looking forward to making my debut for A1GP Team Netherlands and representing my country for the first time," Doornbos said. "It's a new experience for me to be representing my country in this successful A1GP series.

"I have never seen the circuit in Chengdu and have only tested the A1GP Powered by Ferrari car for 20 laps."

The team also announced that Dennis Retera will join them for the rookie sessions on Friday morning.

"Two weeks ago I hear that I was going to do the Rookie test for the Netherlands and a day later I was in England for a seat fitting," said Retera. "It did come as a bit of a surprise, but I am very happy with this chance.

"This Friday I will be able to drive the car for the first time, I will have to get used to it, never before did I drive such a powerful car and the track is also new to me. I cannot wait for it!

"I think I will gain valuable experience with this test and also hope that I can help the team with a good base set up for Robert who will drive the races this weekend."

I'd rate Bamber a better driver easily.
