If i saw that crash yesterday, i remember at the Jim Guthrie 1998 crash. He crashes very hard in the outside wall, but the speed was also horrible.. 8O

One of these days someone is going to get walloped by another car as they're skidding across the track upside down, and it's going to end differently. They've been "too lucky, too long".

Not much you can do about an accident like yesterday's though, aside from not racing at Indianapolis full stop. Yes it's a dangerous place, but the drivers know that.

We're heading to the parade right now, the memorabilia show at the track was amazing.

What I'm trying to say is that although these Indy Lights cars and the IndyCar Dallaras have demonstrated time and again that they will protect a driver during a heavy impact, it has lead to complacency. Drivers are taking bigger risks (as is the series by allowing inexperienced drivers to compete) because the danger element is far lower than it used to be. Sooner or later it will catch up with someone. As ESPN's Indy 500 advertising says, "it's not a matter of IF, but WHEN".

The iRacing indy 500 begins in 13 minutes...

The top split is being shown on iracing.com, and apparently on the video boards at the track...

No, the car just kept rolling. He got out the car and signed things for two other people, and Tags actually got out and bear-hugged a little girl who held up a sign thanking Tags for visiting her elementary school.

I don't like double file restarts here.

Plus now drivers don't have much respect for each other.

Still, the fact remains.

Maybe we should just start the race in single file then too?

If the drivers behave themselves then there shouldn't be an issue.

Was it last year or 2009 where we had a lot of cars getting launched by weaving - the worst I remember being Drift at Brands Hatch in the SuperLeague Formula and I opined that perhaps a fatality might be a good thing. Now that might sound slightly callous and tasteless, but if it could be used to jolt the behaviour of some of the drivers competing in single-seaters then it could be for the best.

Inside turn one for the start everyone!
