Five overtakings already by Rowland, in four different spots of the circuit.
* Mirabeau-Bas
* Rascasse
* Chicane
* Mirabeau-Haute

Now you can add the swimmingpool chicane to that list 8O

I can recall Olivier Panis overtaking Fisichella at the swimming pool in 1997. Funny coincidence that his son gets overtaken there today.

Video of the crash:

it bothers me that this crash could have been much worse had he taken off vs ridden along.

Also, is it me, or are there some real open gaps around this track? Yesterday I noted at Rascasse, should a car have brake failure, it could end up in an open marshall point.

Luciano Burti nearly managed to do exactly that in 2001.

Anyone know what happened to him? Trackside commentators didn't have a clue

Well he had a puncture early on but no idea if he got out before the SC or had to wait during the Red to fix it and didn't get going until after the rest of the field, confusing the live timing...

I thought his passes (although still brilliant) were just too easy, I have a feeling a lot of the people he passed were radio'd saying he was a lap down and don't force it if he tries anything.
If he ends up being classified in the points they'll be pissssssed :p

He only got put down on the live timing after he'd made some of the passes, at least that's what the commentator said. The pass he made through the swimming pool didn't look easy to me, he tried a couple of times before it worked.

It's Spa this weekend, and Pietro Fantin nearly got Hinchcliffe'd yesterday.

This weekend is the premiere for the Renault Sport Trophy. And Richard Gonda is on pole for the "endurance" and "prestige" race. :flag:

Only 13 cars though. That's a bit disappointing...
