Calder Park? Where'd you hear that.

I have my sources ;)

nah, it was posted in the iRacing forum.
Apparently it was only a short exploratory conversation, but they've agreed to talk again.

Wasn't Calder Park modelled on Charlotte though?

Surely it'd be unsuitable for the IRL?

Well they've run Charlotte before.

Charlotte is pretty similar to Texas.

Charlotte was the scene of that massive multi-car shunt a few years ago, 15 or whatever it was, but just take it as a rumour for now, they're probably thinking with the new car.

IRL does want to go back to Aus though, so doing a double header over there or even a triple header with Japan does make sense financially.

Not unless a title sponsor steps up.

not really needed cos they already goto Japan, I mean they have the expense now of shipping over the cars (regardless of who pays the bill) so they might as well make use of the time they have over there and run a couple more races for far less than it would cost to do two or three fly away races.

Maybe they should run the Twin Ring Oval one weekend, followed by the road course the next, followed by a similar double header in Aus somewhere.

It would be cheaper than going to Aus in say oh April and then back to Japan in September (hypothetical example of course).

Even if Aus is out the question, I often wonder why they don't do a Oval/Road double header at Twin Ring, stupid not to really.

Yeaa, and they never went back there.

Wasn't it because the owners weren't happy that TG called the race because of the accident?

I'd like too see Atlanta back. With them loosing a NASCAR date and being a SMI track, Doesn't sound impossible.

As for Australia it would be great if they could return to Surfers Paradise. It was their second biggest audience in the season. Can't understand why they left that race.

Money wasn't the only reason.

I think it was probably the other way round, Indycar wanted to move the date to save money, track refused, so when it came to negotiating an extension to the event, Indycar upp'd the price high to indirectly punish the event organisers for not making their life easier previously, they just didn't expect them to call their bluff, just mho though.

Didn't they also want the weekend moved to another date, but it was going to clash with a load of the grand finals in Aussie

Yeaa but the main thing was that V8's didn't want Surfers in the run up the Bathurst.
