SPEED's Truck Series crew has a bad habit of calling Jason White 'Jay White' for some reason.

Discount Tire comments on Villeneuve's actions at Road America: Discount Tire, proud sponsor of the #22 Dodge Challenger in the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series with Penske Racing, issued this statement today regarding the June 23 incident with Jacques Villeneuve and Danica Patrick at Road America. This past weekend during the Sargento 200 at Road America, No. 22 driver Jacques Villeneuve, while battling for position on the last lap of the race, ended up knocking Danica Patrick's car off track. Villeneuve's comments regarding the incident during post-race interviews were not reflective of Discount Tire's sense of true sportsmanship. Discount Tire stated: "Together Penske and Discount Tire have achieved great success in the Nationwide Series, including a championship, and have maintained the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship throughout that relationship. Although we believe the contact between Villeneuve and Patrick to be unfortunate, it is a part of professional racing. However, Villeneuve's post-race comments did not reflect our ideals regarding sportsmanship. Having said that, we continue to be very proud of our relationship with the Penske organization."(Discount Tire PR)(6-27-2012)

It's supposed to be "J. White", and yo u can blame Mikey for starting that one.

That statement would never had happened if Villeneuve had collected anyone else but Danica.

I think the last bit of the interview where he dismissively just said he didn't care probably irked them. No doubt the fact that Danica Patrick was involved probably has a lot to due with this, but I think his attitude must be what upset them.

Interview wasn't that bad. I suspect the only thing they took issue with was the fact he didn't care what others thought of the accident. Frankly I think the accident was mostly down to Max Papis putting Villeneuve on the grass just before the braking zone.

Interesting...

UPDATE: Sources have confirmed to PitPass.net that Michael Andretti has purchased the engine program from Penske Racing and will field at least one full time Dodge in the Cup series in 2013 and beyond. No word on who the driver is, but with Matt Kenseth leaving Roush at the end of the season, the 2003 Cup series champ did confirm to the Journal Sentinel on Wednesday that he will drive for "a new cup team" in 2013 and beyond. One option on the table is for Andretti to base his team out of the old Evernham Motorsports shop at the Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, N.C. Also hearing from this unnamed source that this new deal with Dodge is also with Richard Petty Motorsports -- currently a Ford team paired with Roush Fenway Racing, but has a long history with Dodge. (this is why we didn't get the announcement of Petty to Dodge in Michigan a few weeks ago, they were trying to get Kenseth). Hearing that an offical announcement could come as early as next weekend.(PitPass.net)(6-282012)

"A new Cup team" from Kensiss (lol) could be pretty vague, ranging anywhere from a new Gibbs car, to a brand-spankin' new team like the article above.

If going with Andretti is really what he's doing, then things couldn't have been that rosy at Roush... just because it looks like quite a downgrade for him, if it really is the case.

Could be a similar thing Evernham did with Bill Elliott when starting his team. I know Matt is very talented but he's also up there in age.

That's strange, considering Andretti runs Chevy engines in IndyCar.
