I honestly didn't think they had the choice to allow that, but awesome.

In 3 minutes, they will start the 15 minute start procedure, and then racing resumes

Wow, that's actually pretty awesome, even if it hurts Ferrari, it's the right thing to do, especially as it's not a 24 hour race.

And the racetime will be exactly 1 hour, 44 minutes and 30 seconds

Massive implications and precedent being set here.

Just another example of the FIA using the "we can do whatever the fuck we want" clause in the rules to change the outcome of a race. Sound familiar?

Thankfully. That's how red flags work in F1, for example.

Sounds good! The flexibility to ensure a green flag finish should always be in the rule book! :flag:

I think you're missing the point. When the governing body can change the fundamental rules of the race at any given moment that leaves the door open for intentional manipulation.

Can´t see them try this in Le Mans

I really don't think "rewinding the clock" on a session is outside the rulebook. I've never seen it happen during a race, but I distinctly remember it happening at Le Mans during practice or qualifying.

That's because Le Mans 24h never gets red flagged.

Good decision. For every series I think the clock should always stop in red flag situation and the extra time allowed should be 30-50% of the planned duration. We live in an era of 24/7 streams so there's no reason to limit duration because of "TV slot time".

Yes and no.

I agree on the racing and broadcasting part, but don't forget racetracks are huge facilities being attended by thousands of people at the same time.

There could be public access roads around the track being closed and scheduled to re-open at a certain time after the event. A delay in event duration could create traffic management issues and such things. So I don't think it's always a viable option.
