October for race fans across Australia means 1 thing, Bathurst. Australia's great race, the greatest endurance contest for touring cars & one of world motorsport's crown jewels. For the 57th time, Mount Panorama plays host to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. The event's history has seen 60 years of racing at 2 venues & 62 endurance races across multiple rulesets. This year we will see 24 full-time & 2 wildcard entries - a total of 26 cars & 56 drivers to take on the mountain for the 1000km classic. This year marks the return of the Mustang (first since Dick Johnson in 1986) in the Ford camp, while the General celebrates the 50th anniversary of Holden's first large factory effort with HDT - which paired Colin Bond, Tony Roberts, Peter Brock & Des West in their GTS350 Monaro's. While the full-time entry count has dropped, this year will feature the same car count as 2018 thanks to 2 wildcard entries. Walkinshaw Andretti United will field the #27 NAPA Holden ZB Commodore with 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi & IndyCar superstar James Hinchcliffe at the wheel. Rossi becomes the first American to compete at Bathurst since Boris Said in 2008, while Hinch becomes the first Canadian to compete since Alex Tagliani in 2005. Kostecki Brothers will move up to the main game to race a Holden ZB Commodore with support from Boost Mobile. Supporting the race weekend includes the 250km contest for the Dunlop Super2 Series on Saturday alongside action for the ECB SuperUtes, Paynter Dixon Touring Car Masters (featuring the Trans-Tasman Challenge as several Central Muscle Car competitors cross the ditch to race at Bathurst), Payce Porsche Carrera Cup Australia & Toyota 86 Racing Series. The event begins on Wednesday with the annual hauler parade - cars hit the track on Thursday for practice. CANNOT WAIT! - Bathurst F1 at Suzuka Petit LeMans / IMSA at Road ATL NASCAR at Dega (Cup & Trucks) NHRA at Charlotte BTCC at Brands World Superbikes in Argentina Super DIRT Week at Oswego (biggest Big Block Mod race of the year) World Series at Thompson (NASCAR Mods finale) Winchester 400 (Super LM crown jewel) ---- I wish IMSA could find a way to not clash with Bathurst tho (of course the ACO always screws that up) Sent from my Z797C using Tapatalk |

Rossi had a minor crash during testing at Winton today which has meant they lost their third test day. The car is not badly damaged though and they'll have no trouble making the race next week. |

Only 16 cars for Super2 this year https://www.supercars.com/news/super2/g ... hurst-250/ at this point, just add a huge bonus for Super2 teams to run the 1000 as a wildcard & get rid of the 250 |

added TV schedule for Network Ten (sydney times) & Sky Sport (NZ) BT Sport I assume will have coverage of the 1000 in the UK - their schedule only goes to Friday right now for us in the USA - it will be the usual with CBS Sports Network having delay coverage & Motor Trend on Demand + Superview being live - also of note: MToD has a free trial as always & monthly costs are extremely cheap, as long as your watching on a PC then you should have 0 problems (phone apps always give me the fits) for Canada - see above no idea on other countries in Europe since Motorsport.tv went online only, other than SuperView of course |

At this point I think they'd barely get enough entries to make a Super2 class worthwhile, given a lot of the drivers are already running the main race and the limited budgets that a lot of the teams/drivers have in that series. |
