why would you think that? If he gets the 15,000,000, then I think any team will be happy to receive that money for a seat...

Because his reputation will now proceed him, nobody will want to actively seek his out a driver who will sue to get what he wants because you never know at what point he's going to start throwing round writs, say he wants his coach parked over there, but you inadvertantly park it over here - is that going to result in a court case over it?

He may have the public support of his fellow drivers for standing up to Sauber, but you can bet that given the choice of GvdG or driver X both offering the same £££, team owner is going to plumb for driver X - less chance of being sued if the relationship, as most do, goes south at some point.

It was not the fact he sued, but the way he sued which will cause his future problems. But I guess it depends, if a team is on the brink, I'm sure they'll overlook his reputation and keep their fingers crossed.

"less chance of being sued"...

He only sued because Sauber took 15.000.000 from him and booted him out, despite having a contract. The shame is on Sauber, and everyone knows it. I wish Giedo all the best.

I agree. Drivers should think twice before they sign with Sauber, not the other way around.

I don't disagree on that point and i'm not saying VdG was wrong in what he did, but both parties should be hanging their heads, not just Sauber.

I don't see any reason why VdG should be hanging his head. Imagine if someone takes 15 millions from you, the other party breaks the law and you'd not get any service in return. What would you do?

Isn't there still a Contract Recognition Board in place in for F1? I wonder why VdG didn't go that route, instead of pursuing it through the courts.

From my understanding its only for the teams in case a driver signs 2 contracts with 2 different teams. Not the other way around.

I really doubt any team looking for cash would reject him over this. They'll make sure the contract is correct and insert enough escape clauses for themselves but if he's willing to splash that cash around they'll want them.

We saw how well that worked with Button, plus is seems no one has much faith in the FIA these days. The main point I took away from the Sauber thing was how inept the FIA were in regards to issuing VdG with a super licence. They stuck by their defense that it takes x amount of time and procedures have to be followed and he missed the cut off, despite TWO COURTS OF LAW stating that had a contractual right to race. I think thats a pretty legitimate reason to waive the procedures.

But then again I don't expect the FIA under this feckless turd of a human being Jean Todt to actually do anything thats not directly related to their self interest.

So Bouiller said it could take "a couple of years" before they catch up with the rest.

That sounds hopeless.

I would sue just like he did, but for compensation, not the race seat.

Play it high to win. Asking for his money back might resulted in a lot less. Aiming high and gotten proven right several times guarantees a high payout.

And now we wait and see if he takes his 15 million to Manor.

True but it depends what the terms of his contract were regarding it all.

they had Mercedes engines and the know how.

again, they should have gone for reverse engineering and trying to improve what's the best around here

reverse engineering the Merc would probably result in a massive lawsuit that would see both McLaren and Honda go bust.
However I still get the idea that Honda decided late 2014 to enter and then had to start designing the engine.

they could always go for a breach :p

but I guess they need the blueprints to do something efective

Promodou is also following Newey and not favouring cooling

Hockenheim's given up trying to get the German GP this year:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/118108

Apart from Nurburgring is there any other German circuit which could host an F1 race?

Lauzitz on the full oval.

Amazing how relatively quickly Germany has gone from having 2 races on the calender to none.
